+- has some value in the proper context. If shot attempts can be used to evaluate a player, then goals for and against when you're on the ice should also be as valuable if not more. I'm pretty sure all stats have variables. In baseball it's pretty simple, if you're at the plate you either hit the ball or you don't. You either catch a ball or you don't. In hockey you could either jump on the ice and catch a plus or a minus. In your own end you reduce variables by being strong defensively. Don't let guys get around you, take shooting chances away all those things that all defenseman should be thinking about in his "own" end. It is a team game and the 7-9 record since his arrival and the other acquisitions should obviously be shared by everyone on the team I think in the big picture, Donaghey has been a positive addition, but most others have been disappoitments, mostly the two boys from BC. Bouchard was expected to fix things in nets and he just added fire to the dumpster. Karabacek was expected to provide offensive depth and he hasn't really given any more than Murphy, McEwen Leger and co could have...or even Richard, who came much cheaper. I think goaltending as a whole has to affect team morale, you see it in the NHL with 25-35 year old pros, so it had to when it's 16-20 year old junior aged kids. I think that's the once piece that impacts the rest. If they had a legit top 6-8 goalie, the defense would play better and with more confidence and the forwards would not feel as much pressure to score. Now, lately the goaltending has been ~somewhat~ better, but the damage has already been done.

Bouchard was expected to fix things in nets and he just added fire to the dumpster. I don't think there's a single poster here who thought Bouchard would help the goaltending. That trade was terrible any way you slice it and I'm not saying that because hindsight is 20/20.
