WE don't talk about the Quebec teams that much here.... the Remparts a little bit I suppose but one trade that stands out to me as just plain weird on day one Baie Comeau trades their 2018 first round pick to Sherbrooke for Justin Blanchette...16 year old rookie goalie who was drafted 28th overall this past year and has 5.52 GAA and .834 save percentage thus far how in the world can anyone think he has raised his value from late second rounder to a first based on that? I agree, I guess the fact he's 16 and can get lots of time to develop in Baie-comeau made them want to pay that price, if samuel is gone which he should be Blanchette can learn from Martin and hopefully be ready next season since they'll be a better team. Other than that it doesn't make too much sense, guess time will tell on that move.

Sort of smells like a futures deal in there. Tough to judge a young goaltender on a bottom feeder though. On November 18, BC put 48 shots on him and only scored 3 goals, and lost ... must have impressed then. BC has not been known for their good decisions.

BLB is rumoured to trade 4 first picks for Dubois, Meloche and Trenin but they don't have their 2018 pick. So 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021 ?! While I am sure many of them are place holders for other assets the league really needs to protect teams from themselves with this stuff. No GM trying to win in 2017 should be able to trade picks from 2021 to do so. You're giving up what should be a star 19yr old in 2025 (!) to try and win in 2017. That's not very fair to the fans of that team or to the inevitable next GM. A 3 year window to move picks and a 1-2 year window to move 1st rounders seems normal to me. A bad GM can cripple a team for a decade if a proper replacement is not brought in soon enough. I always thought the Q should have the same rule as the OHL, no 1st picks in trades but I'm not sure it is that much better. Instead of trading one or two first picks, OHL teams trade 2nd and 3rd round picks for 3-4 years.

Blanchette is considered like a good prospect though. I guess BC wanted to make sure to have a good goalie prospect with its '99-'00-'01 core.

If you deal all of your 1st to 3rd picks then you have a bunch of depth Dmen and 3rd line forwards ... see Moncton. I'm all for banning the trading of 1sts ... and have been for several years now.

Sherbrooke might also use that pick to acquire luke green or something.

So what can we expect today? I'm guessing either 0-2 trades today. Still a lot of rumors going around, Harwell from Sherbrooke is on the move apparently, good bottom 6 guy, Titans are said to be interested but idk what we give up for him or what he's really worth, Brisebois and a pick? Or someone in the minors?

We as fans are free to discuss speculate about any part of hockey we wish. and this time of year, which is very exciting for a lot of fans (myself included), is the annual trade period, where everyone wants to speculate about what their team will do and how it will impact the final standing, future of teams, etc.. If you do not want to join in that's okay, but no need to try and get everyone else to stop just because you don't agree with it.
