I'm trying my hand again at making a mock draft. This is a little early since the QMAAA playoffs are still ongoing, and the Gatorade Challenge is later in the month, which is a big tournament for fine tuning rankings. However, I've tried to make my list based on a combination of best player available and individual team needs. Pick | Team | Player | Position | Midget Club | 1 | Rimouski | Alexis Lafreniere | C/LW | Saint-Estache (QMAAA) | 2 | Sherbrooke | Samuel Poulin | C/LW | College Esther-Blondin (QMAAA) | 3 | Moncton | Jakob Pelletier | C/LW | Seminaire St-Francois (QMAAA)
| 4 | Halifax | Alex Newhook | RW | York-Simcoe (ETA-Ontario) | 5 | Val-d'Or | Jaxon Bellamy | RD | Saint John Vitos (NBPEIMMHL) | 6 | Baie-Comeau | Xavier Parent | RW | College Esther-Blondin (QMAAA) | 7 | Drummondville | Bailey Peach | LW | Cole Harbour (NSMMHL) | 8 | Drummondville (via QC)
| Justin Barron | RD | Halifax (NSMMHL) | 9 | Baie-Comeau (via GAT)
| Christopher Merisier-Ortiz | LD | Saint-Estache (QMAAA)
| 10 | Rimouski (via VIC) | Jeremy Jaques | RD | Magog (QMAAA) | 11 | Sherbrooke (via CHI) | Brett Budgell | RW | London Jr. Knights (Alliance-Ont) | 12 | Rimouski (via CB)
| Felix Lefrance | C/RW | Saint-Estache (QMAAA)
| 13 | Acadie-Bathurst
| Michael Pellerin | LD | Col. Charles-Lemoyne (QMAAA) | 14 | Cape Breton (via BLB) | Maxence Guenette | RD | Levis (QMAAA) | 15 | Cape Breton (via SHA) | Nathan Legare | LW | Saint-Estache (QMAAA) | 16 | Moncton (via RN) | Noah Laaouan | RD | Dartmouth (QMAAA) | 17 | Val-d'Or (via CHA) | Tommy Da Silva | G | Col. Charles-Lemoyne (QMAAA) | 18 | Quebec (via SJ) | Sean Larochelle | RD | Col. Antoine-Girouard (QMAAA) |
Couple Disclaimers, I have not seen every player on this list play, Xavier Parent, Brett Bugell, and Alex Newhook I've seen very little to nothing of. Every other player I've seen play at least one full game. I'll go through my reasoning for the Maritime team picks at least. Moncton: I have Moncton taking Pelletier at 3. He's had an amazing playoffs, with 28 points (14/14) in 15 games, and counting. He's a big reason his team is pushing toward a league championship and a trip to nationals. He's undersized, but I think the Cats are building a team to protect their young skilled players. At 16 I have them picking Laaouan from Dartmouth Steele Subaru. Noah is one of the most complete defensemen in this draft, and has the potential to be a #1 in the Q. He eats a ton of minutes, he's smart, plays both ends of the ice, quarterbacks the powerplay, everything. Halfax: Alex Newhook, if anyone gets him to report, it's Halifax. It's likely Hischier is gone next year, Halifax needs some extra scoring, and at this point Newhook is the BPA. If they can't get him to report, I think they may go Parent. Acadie-Bathurst: Pellerin is a left-shooting defenseman who will compliment Noah Dobson well going forward. Really good skater with some grit and physicality, but also has offensive upside. Cape Breton: Guenette was a big part of Levis' playoff run, lanky right-shooting defenseman, very good skater. Legare is a player I think fits the Screaming Eagles DNA perfectly. Hard-working physical forward who can contribute offensively. Feel free to PM with. I'm trying to keep this kinda vague since its on a public board.

Why do you have BC 5 and VD 6? You know something? Can't complain about free proof-reading. That's more a consequence of wanting a table and not being able to copy-paste from excel directly into a table.. that I know of anyway.

Saint John just recently confirmed that they still intend on bidding for the 2019 Memorial Cup. With the majority of their team likely to be heading to the AHL/NHL it will be interesting to see how they are going to accomplish this. I except to see lots of trades for them after the playoffs. Dove-McFalls to Rimouski has already been reported for a first round pick. I wonder what year it's supposedly for? I could also see Noel being dealt if he ends up back. I'm assuming they attempt to clear out all valuable 20's by Christmas at the latest but probably before hand . Current plan seems to be, build the team around Veleno, D'Orio and Pare, fire sale the rest.

SJ made some trades, but I think they have enough coming back and in the cupboards that they can plan to contend in 2 years, especially if they add 2 good Euros in 2017 and 2018.

Our picks in the Euro draft are probably going to be too low or high (however you want to put it) to get a star player in my opinion. For 2017 anyway. There's a good chance we're picking close to last in the CHL. Besides with only a two year turn around, shouldn't we essentially be trading picks and veterans for sophomores?

Where the Dogs are hosting the draft, I can see them doing something to get a first round pick for this year. I imagine they want to go up on stage for this event.

They'll have to make a lot of trades because they don't have much players left. They're not going to do it by drafting 2001 and 2002 born players.

Definitely a rebuilding year, but a few assets that they can move to help themselves.

Some we would keep and some we could try and move. I only see Noel and maybe Webster bringing in decent returns though. I'm expecting Webster to be our Captain next year and stay on.

Noel might not come back next year and most of the others don't have a huge value. Not enough to for for top '99 and '00 born players.

I doubt Drummondville takes 2 Nova Scotia talents. Seems risky, even with NS players often I'd guess be willing to play for there I'd be surprised if they took 2.
