24 hours away. Opening night roster looks like this: Hyman\Matthews\Nylander JVR\Bozak\Marner Marleau\Kadri\Komarov Brown\Fehr\Martin Moore\Leivo
Rielly\Hainsey Gardiner\Zaitsev Borgman\Carrick Marincin
Andersson\McIlhinney
Lupul is officially LTIR'd meaning we basically have his cap hit in available cap space.
Can't wait to get this show on the road.

Forward depth more then makes up for any short comings on the blueline. If the Leafs D plays bad the Leafs can still fill the net on the other end. If Price gives up more then 2 goals Montreal is likely in trouble most nights.

Toronto scored 3 goals per game last year, Montreal scored 2.75, not a huge gap. Adding Marleau will help Toronto. Habs lost Radulov but added Drouin, to me that's a wash. The hope is that Gallagher(injured), Galchenyuk(injured) and Lehkonen take the next step or bounce back. Plus, guys like Hudon and Hemsky add depth to the offense.

Most teams have 2nd/3rd rounders and vets that they'd like to see do well. .25 goals for advantage is also from a team of rookies. No reason to not expect an increase in output from a guy like Matthews overall....if the big 3 each increase by 5 points or so plus add consistency that lacked during the first 1/3 or so of last year then the Leafs could lead the league in scoring.

Hemsky is very proven, the question is, can he stay healthy. No matter how you slice it, having a guy like Byron(22 goals last year, none on the PP) on the 4th line is depth.

great start for Leafs Marleau seems to be fitting in pretty good with a very solid game all 3 scoring lines in sync
Mathieu Perreault ... one of my favorite Titan players scored for Jets

7-2-0 start after a big bounce back win to give LA their 1st regulation loss.
After both losses the team can back with big wins both times.
4 lines rolling and every night it's someone different leading the way.
Rielly has been a monster early on.
Matthews looks like a 50 goal scorer.
Andersen starting to come around after a shaky start.
Things are looking good.

The Leafs are not guaranteed a Cup by any means but their fans have the promise of contention in the very near future and just as importantly you guys have a team which is entertaining on the ice.

Yep there's never a guarantee but the best way to accumulate the elite depth you need to win is through the top end of the draft. It's easy to sit back and poke holes...NYI....Florida...have never come close to completing a rebuild despite the high picks. They also mismanaged many assets along the way and didn't have great leadership, managing, coaching, and development. In my opinion the Leafs have the front office with the right mindset. Not scared to throw money at an off-ice issue whether it be analytics, beefing up the Marlies, etc. The fact nobody can dispute though is that the current teams that are having success and multiple Cups like LA, Chicago, and Pittsburgh all did so by drafting elite talent high in the draft and surrounding it with depth. Hard to look at the current Leafs roster and not see them following that same mold.

You can add all the top end talent you want..... you still can't win without smart management surrounding that talent with cheap contracts or entry level deals and hitting some home runs outside the early part of the draft
Chicago Duncan Keith, Corey Crawford 2nd round Hkalmarsson 4th round Pittsburgh Matt Murray 4th round, Connor Sheary never drafted at all, Jake Guentzel 3rd round, Letang 3rd round
LA Martinez 4th round, Quick 3rd round, Toffoli 2nd round, Pearson (last pick of the 1st round)

Chicago drafted Seabrook with no plan of him being in a rebuild with Toews and Kane picked high years later...it just kind of worked out that way. Luckily for Toronto management managed to keep Kadri and Rielly despite a GM trying to constantly make the playoffs. The key now is transitioning from Bozak/JVR as depth to some of the depth players or Marlies as the bigger guys take up larger cap hits as the years go by. How well the high end guys play will determine how much of an impact the depth is relied on providing in terms of whether they can bring enough to push the team over the top. The style of how they play will mean a lot as well as the game is really transitioning into a speed game with little hitting and physical contact but we all know that changes at playoff time as the intensity rises. I'm confident there will be bumps in the road before this team reaches their peak as whether you inevitably win or not you seem to need some losses to learn from in this league before you can manage to put it all together.
