love the whole first base comment
yet i saw on MLB network show yesterday only 3 teams had more production from the first base slot than Boston
it's a different approach but the combination of Ramirez/Moreland/Pearce was effective enough
don't think you can bank on Pedroia returning to health
not gonna bank on smith or thornburg in the pen either

I think Chavis could be in the mix there. I would bring Smith and Thornburg back but you can't count on them for the top 3 roles. With relievers, health and effectiveness can come and go quickly. I think neither guy gets big money, so I'd rather do that than make a trade or overpay somebody who may not be better.

I would work to get Eovaldi back ... he could become a 1A guy with his stuff.
I think Pearce probably will cost too much but I'd like him back. He isn't a young guy though so I think you only offer one year. He'll get 2 or 3 years somewhere else.
I'm on the fence with Kelly ... not sure he can deliver over a full season ... seems to have long stretches of bad.
We'll need a legit closer ... is that Brasier ? I think Kelly and Brasier could battle for the closing role ... but you have to sign Kelly still.

He had some issues this year, but I see them giving him big money for a closer. Kelly, it will depend, I don't see them paying crazy money for him, but at 15M over 3 years, sure. Eovaldi, I would definitely try and retain, somebody will likely give him a pretty good offer, I would give him 30-36M over 3 years, but somebody likely gives him 4 years at 60M or 5 years at 70M. Seems like a big risk for his injury and track record.

Outspend Everybody.............It's the Red Sox Way . What is it with you being so hung up on what they spend? It's been "the way" of many MLB teams going all the way back to the early 90's when it was Toronto with the highest payroll and winning World Series. You should be pissed your team isn't spending more to keep up.

So it makes sense that he would get paid more money than Eovaldi.
