Surprise ........Surprise...........Reports are ..it is about.....$$$$$.....he wants to be the Highest Paid Player in The Game .....5 years - 250 Million are the Reports .....he is the MVP of the League. He is not looking very good in this as they gave a list of things, the Organization has done over the last little while to keep him happy , getting rid of The Head Coach , apparently getting his input into Assistants giving him a Contract extension .......that unfortunately didn't include the Clause that it would automatically be tore up and replaced by one that guarantees him being the Highest Paid Player in the NFL until he retires , making 33.5 Million a year is one thing but only being the 5th Highest paid is another . I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it is /was about the Almighty Dollar ........Ego Aside of Course . I haven’t seen those reports, who’s reporting that out of curiosity? CBS Sports Network was reporting it very early this Morning .

I’ve seen those reports, I meant the ones about him wanting 250 million and a whole bunch more money, I haven’t seen Schefter or anyone else that’s a real respected source say that but I may just have missed it also. I don't think it's about money or just money, I think there are a few factors at play here.
1) GB drafting a QB in the first round in 2020 instead of getting Rodgers what he wanted as far as weapons go.
2) the way the last game went with kicking the FG instead of going for it on 4th down which was 100% the way to go.
3) I think he really wants to move to a west coast team as he recently got engaged to Shaileine Woodley, actress, and he grew up in California as well.
He just wants the same respect other top QB's get. Brady had a team open their team up to let him do as he wanted. You think Arians wanted Antonio Brown? Brady was basically the GM. Similar to Lebron in the NBA. To compare...Rodgers has his front office trading up to draft a 1st round QB. I think I read that even the coach didn't know about that plan. GB is a mess. Did the same thing to Favre vs just moving on. Indianapolis let Peyton Manning dictate his own future when Luck fell into their lap. I can easily see why Rodgers will never play there again. And also why they have no reason but to tell him to either come to camp or go host Jeopardy. No way this doesnt end in a mess.

He has 3 years left on his current deal . Hypothetically if he decides to sit out he would be forfeiting 33 Million in Salary and 21 Million in Bonus Money . When you hear thee kind of Dollars ......it's more EGO than Money . I am not a Tom Brady Fan but if he had this Big an Ego with what 10 Super Bowl Games with 7 Rings compared to this guy's 1.....How much could the Greatest QB of All Time demand ? To be honest this has most likely been Front and Center with Rogers since Mahomes got his Half a Billion Dollar Deal .

I know LeBron started this Unofficial GM Title added to their Job Description and your right Brady probably did the same in TB .......but how is it a Respect Thing ? Just 3 Years ago they made him the Highest Paid QB . Mahomes , Watson ,Wilson and Prescott passed him since . He was in Jordan Love's Shoes once , if he keeps playing at an All Pro Level.....Love stays on the Sidelines . Green Bay had 4 All Pro's on Offence last year ...including arguably the Best WR in Football Last Season . Let's say Green Bay gives him his 50 Million Dollar a Year Deal ....good luck being the Unofficial GM then when you have to cut 2 of them All Pro's because you can't afford them and those Up and Coming Players move on because you can't Match the Dollars that are Out There on the Open Market .

It's a respect thing because he views it as wanting a fraction of what other top guys get and is actually getting less input and information over time. I don't think the money has anything to do with it from his side. It's the trading up to get a QB a year ago that is just coming to a head finally. I personally think that they're screwing up like they did with Favre. If after Rodgers rookie season OR 2nd season they went to Favre and quietly said lets figure this out so we both look good and Rodgers can play both sides likely end up benefiting more then the mess that happened when he ended up in NY as a Jet. If Love is the guy you think can play...move Rodgers. Or make someone else really overpay for Love in draft capital so you can try picking some good kids on rookie contracts and try to win a Super Bowl with Rodgers and the core they do have while he still has a good few years left.

NFL draft done for the Patriots and ....
1) Future, hopefully sooner rather than later, QB drafted in Mac Jones
2) Pass rush strengthened with Barmore and Perkins 3) Defence strengthened further with McGrone and Bledsoe.
The Pats are going back to what they were in the early 2000s, one of the best defences in the league and strong running game- with Stevenson drafted from Oklahoma they have him to add to James White, Sony Michel and Damien Harris. My main concern of course is Cam Newton who was complete dogshit last year but he will have some more weapons this year with Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith signed at TE and he will have a full training camp this year.
I get a laugh out of Pats fans who scream online about Belichek not drafting WRs high in the draft, I think it has been proven that he gets WRs via trade or free agency much better than he does at the draft. They did draft a WR in the 7th round in Tre Nixon who looks good on film.
I'm hopeful that Stidham or Jones will win the #1 QB job in training camp; I was so disappointed that Stidham didn't win the #1 job last year as I thought he looked pretty good as a rookie, better than Jimmy G did in his first year backing up Brady, and then so many bad throws by Newton last year.

As a fellow Pats fan I bought into the Stidham hype... I think he’s out of competition as the 1st string guy now with Jones brought in. Cam looked good early and then really tapered off, I think it’s likely an open camp situation and that Cam will get the start out of the gate provided Jones doesn’t steal the job... once Cam struggles (I assume he will) and provided Jones is progressing, I think they’ll turn to him around week 4-5.

I honestly thought Stidham as a rookie looked better than Garappolo did as a rookie and I was impressed with Jimmy G and that was why I was so disappointed that Stidham wasted his chance last year.
I agree with your prediction, heck even a #1 overall pick in Mayfield was eased in by Cleveland and KC had Mahomes back up Smith for his first year. I'm just so excited that the Pats got Jones and had a solid draft after the first round was finished.
I just want the team to win, it doesn't matter who the QB is when that is happening.

Ugggh that sound of the ball hitting the post last night and bouncing out... Brady probably would have gone down the field and delivered a game winning FG drive for the Bucs right after anyways.
Interesting season so far in the NFL .... as a Pats fan I'm disappointed to see them 1-3 but with better luck they could be 3-1 and last night I was impressed with Mac Jones handling the pressure of playing Brady and taking the hits and making plays.
Out of the 4 interceptions Mac Jones has thrown only 1 of them are his fault, 3 of them on his receivers bobbling balls or outright passing them along to a DB like the New Orleans game.
Nice to see some teams like Cleveland and Cincinatti moving up with their young QBs.

Jones looks to have the tools to be a good QB, but in the NFL it requires patience, you have good defensive coordinators that disguise coverages and blitzes, he will need to experience that quite a few times then recognize it. What is killing NE is the running game where they are 31st, a running game is a young QB's best friend.
