At the same age(6 years ago) Phil Danault had 53GP and 4-6-10 at the NHL level, Poehling put up 17pts in 57 games as a 3rd/4th liner, 22pts in 85 career games. He showed flashes of being a good 2 way center but needs more consistency. The next 2 years will determine the rest. Evans also steeped up to 29pts in 72 games. I'm a big fan of Evans...... The main issue with him is staying healthy.

Goalie development can be a fickle thing, but does anyone feel that Primeau's prospect star has dimmed a bit over the past year or so? It seems like he failed to rise to the challenge when presented with opportunities over the last little while.

It seems like he failed to rise to the challenge when presented with opportunities over the last little while. The yoyo up and down the last 2 years has not helped his development, but he is only 22, which is a baby for a goaltender. That being goaltending development is very rarely linear, even the top goalie prospects have had failures and really rough patches...Price Fleury Hart etc. Campbell only became a starter at 29. Shersterkin only came to NA at 24. Samsonov is still having ups and downs at 24. Ideally he carries them on a run in the AHL playoffs(1.50 GAA and .952% so far in 2 starts) and then gets 50+ starts next year. The key point for him is October 2023 at which point he will need waivers to go to the AHL, at that point he should be NHL ready for 20-30 starts. I think physically he is NHL ready but needs to mature in his mental approach and not change his game after a bad goals or a few goals(that may or may not be his fault).

Riley Kidney is joining Laval for the 2nd round of AHL playoffs. They didn't confirm he would play, but it's a good experience regardless.

He could play in the AHL at 18 if he wasn't drafted from a CHL team, as the season is over he is eligible to play AHL or NHL.

Big fan of Dylan Cozens ever since his WJC days
He fits right into our "age range"....21yrs old.....and is a big center.
6'3" 190lbs
Any chance Gorton and Hughes could pry him from Buffalo??

I'll reposted this from earlier in this thread now that the Habs DO have the #1 pick. With Suzuki and Caufield leading the charge, who would be the best fit? Juraj Slafkovsky: A potential power forward. 6’4” 220lbs. He participated at the Olympics and finished with seven goals in seven games. An impressive run for the youngster in his draft year. He also won the MVP award at the Olympics as well. He's a big-time beast with great upside. As for what he brings with his game, he’s a big kid at six-foot-four and around 220 pounds. At 18, he’s likely not done filling out. He has the potential to grow into a legitimate power forward by definition with his high-end offensive skill and his ability to engage in a big way physically. Call it a mean streak, but Slafkovsky’s size and physical edge makes him arguably one of the more dominant players in this draft — especially coming right out of the draft.
