surprised it took this long for a team to sign Rodrigues, he had a pretty good season Usually that's because guys want more term/money, they settle for one year looking to get a better deal next summer. The flat cap makes it hard on mid lineup guys to get paid.

It's good that they got it done, their core guys are mostly locked up. Will be interesting to see how they make out with not as deep a team next year and the one after with the 12.6M kicking in.

Galchenyuk released from PTO.
Kaut had a good game a few nights ago by the sounds of it so he most likely gets the last FW spot.

I'm surprised Colorado has not made a move at center yet, with Kadri gone they are pretty thin.

Bednar says that Alex Newhook will be given every opportunity to seize the #2 center spot and not just a couple games.
If Newhook falters then Rodrigues can move in, he got a lot of points last year when he was the #2 center in Pittsburgh... and then Bednar always has his pet in Compher.
The Avs have most of their 2023 and 2024 picks to use at the trade deadline.

3-2-1 to start the season despite not playing their best- they gotta realize they are a huge target as defending champions and will get the other team's best game every night.
I am just hoping they bring their best this week, my wife and I are off to visit our daughter and her fiancee in New York and taking in games on Tuesday (Rangers), Friday (Devils) and Saturday (Islanders).

Back on the right track today, albeit with almost another blown 3 goal lead, with a 6-3 win.
The New York road trip went 1-2 , could have been 3-0 but could have been 0-3. should have been 2-1 but they blew the game against the Islanders after being up by 3.
The game against the Rangers was one of the best NHL games I have seen live, back and forth; the Devils was a sleepwalk which was disappointing as they had 2 days off in between and the Islanders game was brutal getting a big lead and blowing it with stupid play.
One thing that drives me nuts as a hockey fan is when you see a coach fall in love with a player and plays him consistently higher in the lineup than they should be playing and giving up on a younger more talented player in favour of their "pet". Bednar's "pet" is J.T. Compher- he isn't terrible but he shouldn't be playing 2C at all whatsoever- Newhook should be in that position, I would rather see them put Rantanen in that position but with Landeskog out and Nicushkin day to day I suppose that isn't available for now.
I love Mackinnon but I must say Makar is an absolute treat to watch live- he is a generational player on defence.

Rambo Santa, excuse me , Sampo Ranta and Shane Bowers, FINALLY, recalled from the Colorado Eagles.
Bowers looks to finally be healthy and playing well, 6 points in 10 games this season.

Outshot 48-15 in Carolina and win 3-2 in OT... I'll gladly take 2 points that were arguably undeserved.
