I thought getting reunited with MacKinnon and playing in a different market might get his career back on track
It appears I was wrong as he actually is producing even less than he did in Montreal
I think he's done at the NHL level..... what an absolute waste of talent

Absolutely disgraceful last night at home losing 8-2 to the Blues.
Drouin back in with Lekhonen and Cogliano out and got an assist- people can crap on him all they want but he is only making league minimum so it is what it is, he is cheap depth.
The player I am really focusing on for poor play compared to salary is Samuel Girard- $5 million a year, 1 assist in 13 games and a minus 8.

Drouin with a goal and an assist last night… where the haters at? Seriously..?? This WILL be his last year in the NHL. He'll be in Switzerland next season.

Drouin with a goal and an assist last night… where the haters at? It's nice to see Drouin get some production over the last week or so but it is what it is, he is cheap depth and if he gets 30 points this year that is a win.
I hope that he could get himself on a heater at some point but with Nikolai Kovalenko coming after his KHL season is done and the possibility of Landeskog being back for playoffs as well as trade deadline additions he probably sits more games than he plays towards the end of the season.

Samuel Girard entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program- hopefully he will get it figured out, this explains his horrible play so far this season.

Rumblings that the Avs are going to sign Zach Parise after the All Star break; he had 21 goals last year.
Nathan Mackinnon with 4 G 1 A last night, 82 points in 48 games this year.

also Drouin has put up regular points since people , myself included, called him out a couple months ago I'm not surprised he's putting up points, it's staying healthy that's seemed to derail him often. i'm sure being away from the Montreal fishbowl has taken a lot of pressure off his mind.

His own head derails him or not. I view him as the perfect example of a kid with all the skills but needs that mental motivation to keep it on track and when he doesn't have it he's extremely frustrating to watch but when he does have it he can be elite.

Landeskog has started skating and I am hoping that he is back for playoffs and hoping Nicushkin gets the help he needs and is back. Nikolai Kovalenko is supposed to come over after his KHL season is done and that gives the team more depth.
That said I know they need to trade for a second line center even if the players I have mentioned are back and healthy.
Mackinnon is having a great season but I would like to see his minutes come down by 2 a game just to stay fresh and ready for a long playoff run.

Nice to see Drouin get it going, on pace for close to 50 points now.

Monahan would be a great fit there, good 2 way center who can also play wing, wins a ton of faceoffs and PP/PK, on pace for 55+ points playing with Gallagher/Anderson/Armia etc
