Can’t imagine it’s going to be of much interest to me, part of the reason I love it so much is because of the timing. It’s a Christmas tradition, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, etc, etc you gather with friends and family to watch these games when there’s not much else going on.
August has too many other things going on to make it a priority like it is at Xmas time. If it’s on and I’m not doing anything I might tune in but it won’t be something I make time for. Combine that with the quick turn around to the next one and I’m leaning towards being out on it as a whole.

But I don't think too many will go out of their way in the summer to watch this. A summer WJHC just can't replicate the feel of Xmas time.

I wonder if some of the 19 year olds that played will go, I'm thinking we may see a younger group as some of the top 19 year olds will want to focus more on pro camps coming up...guys like Perfetti McTavish and Power...

I think the goal is to basically have the same team. Should be a good lead up to pro camps having it in August. Will probably just come down to individual decisions.

What is cutoff date for age? Will 19 year olds that have since turned 20 still be allowed to play?

Wayne Gretzky said last night on The Nashville Outdoor Classic that the IHF should ban Russia from playing in any International Tournaments including the World Juniors this Summer taking place in Canada .

WJHC won't be quite the same without the Russians. What an absolute mess for Russian citizens whose only fault is living within those borders.
These penalties seem hollow when you see whats happening in Ukraine but this is how the world wants to respond so that it avoids any blood on their own hands.

One positive is by involving sports is that it gets the attention of more people in Russia. Plus Putin is big on sports to promote the Russian "brand".

I think it will be easier for the IIHF to implement a harsh sanction than the IOC or FIFA ... given the makeup of the membership, Russia will have few if any allies in the IIHF ... whereas in the IOC and FIFA, there is a wider variety of members, some of whom would oppose just to be spiteful of the Western/NATO countries.

Czechs and Slovaks playing on TSN , Current Eagles Ivan Ivan and Peter Repcik are playing for their respective Countries . Interestingly enough the Czech Head Coach is Former Screaming Eagle and NHL Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec .

Attendance definitely seems to be lacking. That could completely change today though with Canada's first game. There's no way that there was 1000+ fans at the USA/Germany game. Definitely a bad sign for the tournament to start it off with that few fans.
