A lot of the younger members here (and probably a lot of the older ones as well) likely never heard of Ronnie Hawkins - but he was a transplanted Canadian who really helped to shape the music careers of people like John Lennon, The Band and Bob Dylan. Ronnie passed away yesterday at age 87. Over and above his musical career - he was a romantic at heart - a womanizer - a notorious partyer - and a fantastic storyteller. I remember one story in particular when he said he was so old that in his younger days - getting high was taking an aspirin - a big swig of Pepsi - holding your breath - and spinning three times. It was kind of cool to find out that it wasn't just a Pictou County thing back in the day - LOL. The vid below is worth a watch if you've never seen it - and it portrays Ronnie for who he was and what he was like. For those who have seen the vid - you already know it's worth another watch. . . Long Live the Hawk - Ronnie Hawkins!
