William Lacelle has left Rimouski's camp to keep his NCAA eligibility. Bummer for Rimouski after he looked quite happy to be drafted by the Oceanic at the draft. That doesn't necessarily mean he won't report in the future. He and the team may have decided that he needed meaningful minutes at U-18 rather than backing up Vincent Fillion, and rather than lose his options just to ultimately get sent back, he just left early to leave everything on the table. No that was his decision, not the team's. He left the door open for next year though. But Rimouski is going to be a contender un 2024-2025, I doubt they would go with a 17 yo goalie without experience. I read an article about him wanting to follow Devon Levi's path.

Lacelle would be very strong in the Quebec U18 league....maybe that's not enough of a challenge for him. He was drafted by Waterloo in the USHL. Would he go south of the border?
Following three years with LSL, Levi played in the CCHL before going to Northeastern. Would Lacelle look to play in that league right away? BCHL might be an option too, but with the new rules he would lose eligibility for important tournaments like the upcoming U17 and maybe the U18 Hlinka Cup next summer.
It's disappointing for Rimouski he won't be there given where they selected him.

Don’t think Lacelle can play in the CCHL at 16, if he’s not playing in the Q and he isn’t going to the states to a prep school, I think he’s back in U18 MAAA. It’s more important to play games for a goalie I think at 16, then it is to sit as a backup in a higher league so I think. If he wants to go to the USHL then it’ll be as a 17 year old most likely when he’s got a better chance to play some games.

He will definitely play a lot in Quebec U18. LSL was strong last year. Will they have another strong team this year or is there a lot of turnover?

What's the scouting report on Isles draftee, Owen Conrad?
I'm not a huge fan of comparing players, however, how does his skills differ or how are they similar to Dmen selected in this draft....or last year's draft, like a Owen Phillips for example.
What is Conrad's "potential" upside?
