The Coach (not coaches) lost control of it months ago, what you have now is a classic example of the the tail wagging the dog. Watching Ivan run around the ice making a fool of himself night after night is actually becoming quite entertaining. For a kid trying to get a pro-deal, he is certainly building a great case for himself, the only one in the building he doesn't shit on, on any give night is the zamboni driver and that is likely coming. If our President has a set of balls, Goyens will not be on the bench Friday and a few or our vets will be healthy scratches. Send a message to the fan base that dignity is more important then a classless attempt at winning. Even if our President did have a Set of Balls , he has to run that by Simon Sez because Goings is gonna get paid for the whole length of the contact by him not Shaw . Now do I agree with you ? At this point of the Season ? Why Bother ......over the Summer ? I wouldn't have a problem with it , myself and many others are tiring of his constant Spin Doctoring . Somewhere along the line here we have to get some stability back there behind the Bench and I cant help but go back to Simon's 1st Press Conference when he promised World Class This and World Class That and he has yet to deliver on any of those Promises . You don't get world class anything when you have a stooge at the top of the pyramid. Say what you want about NHL teams like Toronto and Montreal but bringing in smart and forward thinking people at the very top of the organization who command respect to see their vision through is the proper way to right a ship. As long as that role is a "yes man" for an owner without knowledge of the league we're going to repeat these mistakes over and over. The table was set here for a contender to be built is what we'll always talk about. Watching them completely gut it in less than a calendar year has been mesmerizing.

If I remember correctly, even last year as disappointing as it was, one of the acquired OA's was sat out for a couple of games for some "attitude adjustment"?
Personally, I really wish that mppg "minutes played per game" was a well kept and an accessible stat because it would really explain a lot of the problems this season.

There's no development happening. The message from above is to "win today" while the players know they're still a rebuilding team full of youth even after the deadline stupidity. If the players don't believe they're good and the coaching can't get a thing out of them while the goaltending is awful...how is this a healthy environment to be developing youth in? Can any Cape Bretoner actually tell me they'd let their own kid play for this organization in its current state? I'd be doing everything to get them into another organization where there is some accountability and proper direction. We have none of either.

I still think Lavoie is gonna be a real good one . There will always be questions whether we should have took the Goalie Daigle with Victoriaville or the Goal Scorer Masse with Chicoutimi but if they didn't take the #1 Prospect Overall , there would have been even more Negative talk about the Top Guys not coming here and that was a reoccurring issue that got shot down for at least this time around . If your Irwin Simon and your not happy with the direction and not thrilled with the Results of the Team you own ........What's your Next Move ? Will he look at the Head of the Snake ? As a Very Very Sucessful Businessman , you gotta think that he has gone after the Management Heads of some of his other ventures over the Years ......or does he arrive in Cape Breton in May/June and tell everyone that we are trending upward .....this after the pretty much guaranteed first round exit ?

I think he ends up really good as well. But at 18/19. I'm not sold that he's a dominant player next season. This obsession with winning asap just doesn't line up with how he's looked when taking everything into account. And you'd have to think something does have to give in terms of upper management here at some point. You keep touching on the early promises and the world class this and that I hope others remember them as well because its easy for the fans to prove that they have not come close to getting it in return for their support. If anything our owner has presided over one of the worst teams in the league during his tenure. Does he realize that? I really don't think he cares is what is more and more obvious to me. We're a drop in twice a year and shake some hands and talk with Gerard and come back for a draft and the other 99% of his life spent on his other ventures. This is a part time hobby and we're getting a part time effort in return.

Lavoie was 1 by CSR and 4 by HP. Masse was not someone that CB would have taken first, but D'Aigle was 2 and 1 and Poirier was 4 and 2. Of your top 4 picks, Shields is the only one that I am comfortable saying was the best option where he was picked. I would have taken Poirier, Fortier-Gendron, and literally anything but a goalie for the other 3 picks.

I stand by the Lavoie pick. I do as well. My comment was to more point out that next season is too early to buy big. But he's had a tough 2nd half which I think we all know a big reason is the Q schedule and ice time playing vs older players is going to catch up with any 16yr old. The talent is definitely there...its all about when it starts to show up every single night. I think it might be say 18 months away rather than 6-12 but the top end is still going to be an elite player.

The lack of structure with this Team is killing Lavoie, the reference to Fortier-Gendron is not even comparable given the attention to detail that Lacroix brings to the party.
We are quick to blame goalies, D and so on, but when you have 15 new players coming from 15 different coaches, if the bench boss can't get out of the way of his own ego to bring the group together with structure, support and above all patience and trust, they don't stand a chance.
84 shots vs St John in 2 games is not because we have shitty D, it's because our ring leader has no fuk'n clue what he is doing.

This latest stretch makes that Late Season picking of a Captain and a about a Dozen or so Assistants even more Questionable . The more I think about how this Season went and what I envision happening this Summer and the mentioning of of Structure , patience and Trust by others on this Board ...........I can't help but wonder if our Management and On Ice Staff place any weight on Chemistry at all .
