Well here we go , I have had these 2 games circled for over a Month now . I personally thought that these games would separate us from the Maritime Teams not named Halifax but after that Embarrassment in Saint John , I am not sure what to think anymore . Our rebuilding Team with a Ton of Veterans that just finished passing out Letters like Candy couldn't get it together to come out and beat "YOUNG" Rebuilding Clubs that are not carrying the amount of Veterans we are like a Saint John . Now some folks think we have too many Selfish Players .....some think they Quit on the Coach .......some think it's both . All I know is that if they don't sweep Charlottetown this Weekend then it tells me they are just Mailing it in . All that begs the Question to be asked ...............If they show us they don't care .........Why the Hell should We ?

Should be a decent crowd tonight...if the team lays an egg out there it will be a pretty bad look.

Irwin Simon was on during the 2nd intermission taking to Mavs Gillis on Eastlink I transcribed it for anyone interested.
Mavs: "Joining me now Irwin Simon majority owner of the Cape Breton Eagles, Irwin thanks for taking the time"
Simon: "Hey how are ya how ya doing"
Mavs: "How are things"
Simon: "Well you know 2-1 could be 3-1, 4-1 would be alittle better but it's good to be in the lead"
Mavs: "For yourself you come into town making a big announcement trying to get the fans behind this club moving towards the playoffs, what has been your assessment on the year so far?"
Simon: "Listen I've owned this team now for four and a half years, we've gone through covid we've gone through lots of changes and you know it's been a good year for us I really believe we have a great team and a young team and there's alot we can do and we just gotta win tonight and tomorrow night and that gets us in the playoffs.
Simon: "And then listen the playoffs is a new season and uh you know I had a long conversation with the guys tonight before the game and the biggest thing here is they gotta play as a team not individuals they got play for the fans they got to play as a team and who knows what happens after that."
Mavs: "Tonight your talking about an enhanced sound system and really lookin towards making a strong push to a Memorial Cup coming to Cape Breton."
Simon: "Listen when I bought this team what I said is this here my objective is to bring the Memorial Cup here, my objective is hey to turn Centre 200 into a world class arena and I am after...working with the government, the city, the provincial government, the federal government we need a sound system we need clocks we need to upgrade this building to a world class facility and that's what people in Cape Breton deserve."
Simon: "And listen there's alot of other things we can bring here whether it's hockey schools, whether it's NHL or AHL training camps, whether it's other concerts, events that's what they deserve you know the Eagles are to Cape Breton what the Toronto Maple Leafs are to Toronto"
Simon: "And I need the fans to come out but I need good entertainment, I need good hockey of course and I need a world class arena for them to come too whether it's the food, the entertainment, the hockey you need to package it all together cause you know what if not why not stay home and watch it on tv Eastlink's a good place to be watching it okay"
Mavs: "You know what it's not a bad place to watch it" *Laughing*
Simon: "Not at all" *Laughing*
Mavs: "But you know we rather them watch it on demand if they're here so they can come out and see this exciting entertainment"
Simon: "Listen there's nothing like being here in person okay and tonight we have over 3000 fans, good energy in the building there's some great hockey and you know what I love watching our team play they're young, they're fast, theres some good hockey players they're going to be future NHL players so being here is great alot different then staying home and watchin it."
Mavs: "Irwin I appreciate you takin some time to hop up and uh you know enjoy a trip back home my friend."
Simon: "Well great to be here it's always great to come back to Cape Breton it's always great to be in Centre 200 and always great to watch this team play thank you very much."

Baie Comeau falls 5-1 tonight to remain at 57 points. Win tommorow and we are 1 point back.
Charlottetown with a game in hand but seem to be fading a bit as the grind of the season wears on?

One of the more complete efforts of the season I think most would have to say. There were a few times in the 2nd I thought we were about to cave in but kept things together and got a couple saves and ended up cruising in the 3rd.
Am I the only one thinking they kind of hit it right with the 90's theme? The music and everything on the video screen being 90's actually made it feel a little different. Considering how stale things have been I thought this was one where they helped to add to the atmosphere of a solid game by the home team.

Several people made the comment about the 90's theme . Get rid of that Between Period Game of Running around in those Blow Up Suits before someone really gets hurt .As far as the Hockey , you just had the feeling outshooting them that badly that something had to click and thanks to Squires finishing ability it did . Simon addressing the Crowd had Mixed Reviews , he is still singing those same Old Tunes ....anybody else think that he is never gonna be satisfied until he owns C200 ? Anyway ....unless we get a repeat performance Tonight , I still feel like it will be a wasted Weekend .

I think they told him to pound sand after his constant nagging, and now he's here doing the same. IMO C200 is an eyesore ìnside and out and the Municipality should be considering taking him up on his offer. Seeing how inept the entire CBRM is as a whole though, it probably won't happen. We always drive the people who want to invest here with miles of red tape and a closed mindset when it comes to outside investment.

The more he keeps repeating the same talking points the more exposed he seems to be. The ownership of C200 becomes a political issue. Would he be committing to spending his money to maintain the building? Or will be buy it and then turn around and expect the 3 levels off government to fund his upgrades? Might as well keep is as a publicly owned building that the public can have access to with CBRM as owners. He keeps talking about the Memorial Cup and the building being this huge downfall. After almost 5 years shouldnt he just have a clear and concise plan to lay out for all this and what he wants to see? And does he understand that he could have himself a 10,000 Scotiabank Center transplanted to Sydney and it wouldn't matter if his team is so bad?

And does he understand that he could have himself a 10,000 Scotiabank Center transplanted to Sydney and it wouldn't matter if his team is so bad? I think that is the million dollar question. It's a dice roll basically if the building was demolished and rebuilt/upgraded to the point where it becomes an upscale hangout for the upper class people to come hang out and spend money. Does that keep the bills paid or do we leave it as is, keep raising the prices and hope middle/lower class people can once or twice a year afford to bring the family out on a night there isn't a promotion going on. The former works in bigger markets like Moncton and Halifax, however we know damn well those aren't fair comparisons to here in Sydney. The latter, as we can see right before our eyes also isn't working either though.

Well that was quite the comeback . Charlottetown came out buzzing and we were flat , not sure what happened in 24 hrs but in the end we got the extra point . Roy winning the Faceoff in OT in our own end set up the whole play with him finishing it off for the win . Baie Comeau won this afternoon so that was a very important 2 points .
