With the home portion of the regular season wrapped up I took a look at the overall attendance and as most would expect its not great.
The average was 1964 per game. And there's some telling numbers in there.
There were only 4 games over 2500 and only 2 games over 3000. And the season high was only 3221.
17 games, or half the schedule, had under 1800 people.
Fridays had the best average of any night with 2440 per Friday night game. Saturdays averaged 2067.
I found it interesting that the team averaged as many for a Sunday game as a Wednesday game with 1738 for both.
There was an increase from the 1st half (1821) to the 2nd half (2107) so there's a little sign of some momentum there.
Most of this is all pretty alarming to me. A market our size we should have 2-3 reasons per year to put 4000+ in C200 if things were being done right I'd like to think. We basically managed to hit over 3000 once and that was an xmas break game vs Halifax...there were 3 colliding promotions to get to exactly 3000 vs Charlottetoen. This all tells me the people attending are still mostly following old habits and are not coming out because the product is bringing them in and that the marketing efforts are just not working at all. Not that any of that is surprising anyone.

The team moved up the standings a little in the 2nd half posting pretty much a .500 winning percentage in the 2nd half, but they also seemed to have had more "promo" nights in the 2nd half, so it's hard to say if the increase was the on-ice product or marketing.
Needless to say, an average of just under 2000 per game is not enough , but I would be curious to see how that compares to similar markets.
Momentum is built early in the CHL, the Eagles came out of the gate banged up and could get anything going until November, 2023-2024 will need to much better out of the gate for things to improve. I feel a lot of CHL fans are in the wait and see mode before jumping in and once the shitty weather hits, if the momentum is not there, they just pack it in and stay home.

It's expected that your 2nd half should have a higher average. The league starts in September when nobody is really in hockey mode. But after Xmas when its colder and the teams have settled down after trading there always should be a higher average especially when as you touched on there's usually promo's for us that end up in that 2nd half. Now a team stuck at the bottom should also not expect the usual to happen....you do need to earn the trust of your paying customer if you want them to return regularly. At this point an image overhaul is needed more then a nice Facebook image or pre-game video. The lack of crowds over 3000 is incredible if you look back to some of the seasons from 06 through 2009 or so when you'd get 3000 multiple games in a row. They need to find a way to get 400-500 more people in the rink every night. Key nights (season opener, Xmas week vs Halifax, St. Patty's day jersey night, last game of the season) should all have an expectation for 4000+. But it will come through marketing and a campaign on the ground...if they let management come out and blame fans for the lack of ticket sales then they deserve whats to come.

They must have blew the marketing budget on having Riverdance compose the goal song so hopefully next year they can keep it going upward.
I think they did alright for the home finale though. Souvenirs, vouchers, even a few free jerseys thrown into the crowd seemed like a decent thanks for sitting through yet another tough year, the atmosphere seemed positive.

The fans have sat through a lot here these last few years so ending with 8 straight wins at home was nice even if it all came against the teams below is in the division.

Exactly, but in this league you need to win the games you should win, keeps you climbing. I do have some reservations about the potential offensive output of this team next season. Part of it is easily fixed by having players play on both sides of the puck, that is coaching. We will need to see some of young guys take a leap forward offensively if the Eagles want to improve on this season. No question fan support will increase with wins, there absolutely needs to be progression up the standings next season.

You can expect veterans to be added as a part of previous deals and I think you can expect picks to be moved to bring in vets as well. But you're bang on that any success has to come from a system where more guys are playing a 2 way game.

Hey there Jack Bauer, pretty decent stats but not 100% accurate in telling the story. Pop by my office and I can share the actual game day stats pulled from our ticket system. Can also show you how our promotions did individually. These numbers don't always come through in a generalized and averaged report. Let's have a chat any time, I'd love to get your feedback on how we can improve our marketing efforts! You seem to be a long serving fan with lots to say. Help us turn it around! Have a great day!

My info came from the Q site which always lists a lower number vs what is announced as the comps are removed from that number to my understanding. I'm sure many here would love to hear how the promotions did individually.

I have a Simple Question ...........or at least I think it's a Simple one . In the Big Picture , if a concern in the past is that Season Ticket Holders would not appreciate Cheap Upper Bowl Tickets but yet we see them offer this 4 for $40 deal and other type deals to Minor Hockey and Other Organization , how are they really any different ? ......then why don't they revisit the concept of Reduced Cost Seating in the Upper Bowl ? Look at Lower Priced Tickets for Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday Games ? I for one am in favor of any of these things in hopes to grow the Fan Base .

Ultimately as a sports team the product being fun and enjoyable is the best marketing you're going to get. Word of mouth spreads quickly but that works for the good and bad. There's been basically a decade of people being turned off for many reasons. Inviting some fans to share some ideas doesnt fix that. But as hal regularly shows....there's no shortage of people willing to share some ideas. But 100% of it doesnt matter if the team on the ice isn't one people are excited to watch. Thats still the biggest obstacle here...we need a competitive product if we're supposed to ingest higher prices and less entertainment.

Listen Folks .....We always wondered if The Eagles Organization paid attention to these Boards ? Well we have our answer .....so any ideas ....Big ....Small....or in between ...."POST THEM" . The Person in the Organization who is tasked with this , does read this Board as evidenced by her joining and inviting our very own Jack Bauer to trade ideas with them . No ideas should be judged by us .....Let the Organization collect and review them .Looks like we will be stormed in tomorrow , so put on your Thinking Caps and Post your ideas here .
