Everybody waiting on Bellinger , Snell and Chapman in that Order . With Money Bags Boras front and center in all of this , I am not surprised that it is playing itself out to the 11th Hour . Bryce Harper never signed until the Last Day of February . If you listen to Atkins , he is slowly letting Jays Fans know that it may get played back ...........pretty close to what yah saw Last Season .

They didn't want to commit to Chapman so this buys a cheap replacement as a part of a committee and a guy who can still hit. I think he's the right person to put in that locker room as well. He's been a part of winning clubs. Still need more but I agree with the approach of not overpaying for the FA's left in term because you might need a certain element like an LH hitter for example. You can find that as you go through training camp if its a huge issue in building the lineup. Its still underwhelming coming off of last season. I expected more trade activity. But i'm glad they're not spending on guys just to say they did something.

Pretty much bang on analysis IMO ... the FA crop this year is weak - would rather see the Jays piece together some short term deals and maintain some flexibility rather than go big on term and dollars for some guys who a) may be no better than the guys available on short term deals; and b) could end up being a huge long-term mistake if their play does not live up to expectations.

Is it possible that Scott Boras misread the market and they both end up having to take a short term deal?

I just find it puzzling that a 39 year old Free Agent is a Better Option then anyone in the Prospect Pool .

He's more of a Belt replacement than a Chapman replacement. IKF will play the majority of games at 3B with the current roster. They have both Martinez & Barger in the system who played some 3B, but I'm not sure where the org sees their future positions and they are still very much unknowns, much more so than Turner. I expect to see Barger up with the Jays this year given he is 24, likely playing abit of everything especially OF.

Give me less defense and someone who comes up with a hit after the 6th inning. Way too often Chapman was a rally killer at the plate. I dont see how its puzzling that a guy with that resume is thought of higher then kids who have never played in the major leagues. What prospect can DH, play both corners, and has spent most of his career playing on good teams? There's value in experience for a team hoping youth can develop into winners.

I think we will see a bit of a committee situation at 3rd, at least to start the year - Turner, IKF, Biggio, Espinal, the kids. Hopefully someone emerges from that pack and stakes a strong claim to the job. If Turner can defy father time one more year, and one or more of the younger guys can break through, I think they won't miss Chapman ... obviously if the worst case arrives (Turner is washed up, the kids aren't ready, Biggio/IKF/Espinal are not starting calibre), they may long for the stability Chapman brought.

Merrifield signed with Phillies for 8 Million , loved watching him play , loved his hustle. Is Kiner Falefela an Upgrade from Whit ?
