I'll start this one!
Really looking forward to this team, and to see how the changes in the league will play out.

Jays did a great job adapting for the new league. No drastic shifting, and the new Rogers Centre angled walls, puts more emphasis on OF defense ability and speed, and they went from a scary bad one, to a scary good one.
Stealing bases will be way up too, and they had a slow team. They have some very good base stealers now in Whit, KK and Varsho in particular. They had no lefty threats last year, though Tapia did ok. Now they have Varsho, Belt and KK to utilize.
I expect Manoah and Gausman will give them a chance to win almost every night. Bassitt should eat some innings and keep the score down, some good, some bad outings I'm sure. Then the last 2. Berrios and Kikuchi. Disasters last season, especially in the 2nd half. But both have shown promise this Spring. Jays need at least 1 of them to be a quality SP most games this year. If they both have comeback years, Jays will be laughing.
Bullpen will be even stronger than last year. Wish they kept Pearson up though, give him a season with the big team out of the pen. I love having arms like that in the pen, and it would have given him a confidence boost.

I think they want to give Pearson as much high leverage situations as they can in the minors before bringing him up. He's still struggling abit with his command. If he gets that in check to me there's no reason he's not up in May. I'd rather have him than Trevor Richards I agree though, this years roster is far more dynamic than years past. If Kikuchi can continue what he did in spring training the rotation is fantastic.

Opening day today vs St.Louis.
Game time is 5pm Atlantic.
Now is the real test. Get some early wins that don't come back to bite them in the ass later on.

Their bullpen still makes me nervous. They only added one guy.

Their bullpen still makes me nervous. They only added one guy. Green will be on the team after the all star break. My guess is Pearson will be up in May. The bullpen is better than what they showed today though and could have been managed better. Mayza was totally misused.

Off to a strong start in Buffalo ... *if he can stay healthy* could be a back end arm for the bullpen before long - could be a nice weapon pitching the 7th or 8th to bridge to Romano ...

With Tommy John surgery it's safe to assume you won't get much for 15 months, anything more is a bonus. He was signed for 2024 from what I understand.

I'm excited about this season and watching the Jays.
IMO, they have a great outfielders.
Varsho Springer Kiermaier
Infield is same as last.
You know they are going to hit a lot of dingers.
Amazing 1/2 Manoah Gausman
Kikuchi - Looked good in camp and had a good start the other day.
Berríos is obviously struggling. When he's on, he's on.....and when he is off, he is really off.
I see the bullpen being much better this year.
Also, Don Mattingly will help this team...

Kiermaier and Varsho are the kind of guys you win with - the baseball version of grinders. The bullpen will be good ... there are a couple of big armed guys in AAA that will likely be up soon to further boost (Pearson leading the way). 3-4-5 in the rotation are all question marks ... Kikuchi is off to a good start, but he has teased with spurts of solid pitching over the years before falling back to his old ways. Berrios seems to be mostly a command issue - he has good stuff, but has a bad habit of missing his spot and leaving a pitch right down the middle for hitters to tee off on - not sure how you fix that. Bassitt has been unimpressive so far - he strikes me as a guy who thinks he is smarter than everyone else and full of excuses - at some point, quit bragging about throwing eight pitches, focus on 3 that work, and throw whatever your catcher tells you to. This is the deepest they have been in a while ... when you look at the bench, or the bullpen, there aren't many guys that you cringe if you hear they are playing tonight ... Will be interesting to see what happens with Belt - is he just off to a slow start? Or is he done as in waived by mid-May?

Ugly outing by the bullpen last night to bring an end to a nice winning streak .... I would rather have seen them turn to Pearson in the 8th or 9th than Bass and Garcia - those two have been ineffective all year. They have been successful in the past, so not suggesting they should be released, but a steady diet of low-leverage mop-up work should be in their future until they figure things out.
