Ugly outing by the bullpen last night to bring an end to a nice winning streak .... I would rather have seen them turn to Pearson in the 8th or 9th than Bass and Garcia - those two have been ineffective all year. They have been successful in the past, so not suggesting they should be released, but a steady diet of low-leverage mop-up work should be in their future until they figure things out. I'd imagine Pearson gets that next high leverage situation. With the struggles of Bass & Garcia the Swanson deal is looking really good right now. I think Garcia is the guy whos more likely to get back on track with Bass more likely to end up DFA'd. Then in close games you have the 6th/7th inning Garcia/Pearson, 8th Swanson & 9th Romano. Will need to trade for at least 1 reliver at the deadline.

Agree with almost everything above ... Kiermaier and Varsho are the kind of guys you win with - the baseball version of grinders. The bullpen will be good ... there are a couple of big armed guys in AAA that will likely be up soon to further boost (Pearson leading the way). 3-4-5 in the rotation are all question marks ... Kikuchi is off to a good start, but he has teased with spurts of solid pitching over the years before falling back to his old ways. Berrios seems to be mostly a command issue - he has good stuff, but has a bad habit of missing his spot and leaving a pitch right down the middle for hitters to tee off on - not sure how you fix that. Bassitt has been unimpressive so far - he strikes me as a guy who thinks he is smarter than everyone else and full of excuses - at some point, quit bragging about throwing eight pitches, focus on 3 that work, and throw whatever your catcher tells you to. This is the deepest they have been in a while ... when you look at the bench, or the bullpen, there aren't many guys that you cringe if you hear they are playing tonight ... Will be interesting to see what happens with Belt - is he just off to a slow start? Or is he done as in waived by mid-May? I think Bassitt comes around .......History says he will at least . He came around.

Bassitt is so calm on the mound. He's been fantastic.
Last night was a great pitching duel.
Now to get Manoah and José Berríos on track and more consistent.
Cimber should be close to returning ..
Not a fan of Bass at all....
Pretty good top 3.
Gausman Bassitt Manoah
They have to be better getting hits with runners in scoring positions...
Belt has been getting better..
Really enjoy watching KK. Great player batting in the 9th spot.
Go Jays!

Some reporters were speculating the pitch clock was screwing him up. They also talked about getting Jansen to catch him instead of Kirk. I think he did better with Jansen last time. Can u send him down? Would that be bad? Do u just keep starting him and hope he gets better? Not good.

I don’t think you send him down but maybe he needs a stint on the IL to get things right.. his command is god awful right now, he’s struggling to generate swinging strikes and the movement on his slider is awful. The struggles are real, mechanically something looks off. He was one of the “slower” workers last year and it’s possible having to speed up, has caused all these issues but the Jays have a real problem on their hands with him right now.

Manoah ......wow ....time for something drastic . One of the Sportsnet Announcers Caleb Joseph said the problem is between the ears . The Kid is a mess . I personally would do the two week mystery DL thing , then go from there .
