Pretty decent price for a player who had almost 30pts last year. I wonder how it will play out seeing how many bottom six forwards we currently have and already paid for McPhee and Begin

Yea, The Eagles are now carrying 15 (not including Newcombe) forwards, something's gotta give there.

He’s playing for Amherst atm Good to know thanks! I personally think this team could benefit from a veteran forward coming in and shaking things up. Even as a depth call up it's still a win-win for that price.

Is there somewhere where you can look up the various QMJHL trade rules? I thought it was fairly common knowledge that you could only trade 20 year-olds after the trade deadline? Lavallee is a 2004, so obviously its allowed. Reading elsewhere that he (Lavallee) can only play a limited number of games as an AP (10?) until December when the trade window opens again - so it seems kind of weird to allow a temporary trade - or a conditional trade. It's new to me, so just looking for some clarity? Non-roster players can be traded but have to remain as AP's until the Xmas trade period. There's nothing temporary about the trade, just games played conditions to protect the team he's with from losing their full time player until Xmas at which point the Eagles could call him up full time. You will never find an official guide to QMJHL trade rules.

You will never find an official guide to QMJHL trade rules. It likely won't happen to CB because of numbers, but he's allowed 10GP as an affiliate and then he would be eligible to be an emergency call-up for any games beyond that (emergency call-up requires less than 12 healthy forwards).

Interested to see if this deal is more of something in preparation of moving multiple roster pieces at Christmas for a bigger splash.
Having an extra forward ready to be called up and step into the lineup would be a smart move to not leave a gaping hole on the wing.

I think its really just the GM doing what he does...making a lot of trades that don't move you forwards or backwards. This is a depth 19yr old to play a few games between now and Xmas. Most teams would probably just roll with tossing some recent picks in depending on where the game is that you need someone.

He’s actually not a bad player, I’d rather have him in the lineup then some of the others at the bottom of the roster but I’m not sure why you make the trade for a 19 YO to be an affiliate, there’s lots of guys around that can play if you get to that point. Which with how many forwards you have, it hopefully doesn’t happen. If it does, give Foley the games. If they want to make the move because they think he improves the bottom 6 (which I think he would) then that makes more sense to me but why not just claim him off waivers for nothing 3 weeks ago since he was cut by Baie-Comeau?
