Seemed a rather pricy transaction this morning..... what's the story on this kid? was a 2nd round pick and didnt play in the Q last year and now he's worth a 3rd and a 1st?

Just like Colten Ellis was worth a first before playing one game in the Q? Mathys Fernandez (3rd round pick 2021) was also worth a first pick last year in the Robidas deal before playing one game in the Q.

He won the top goalie award at the CCM Challenge and had a 0.968 save percentage during the playoffs. He didn't play for a top team though so his regular season stats seem average.

I thought the same thing when I looked at the transaction, quite the price to pay, especially since Val-d'Or just shipped out a good young goalie in Fernandez. Beaunoyer played in the QMAAA for the Notre Dame Albatross... looking at his playoff numbers, .968 in 7 games, the could be some recency bias of seeing a kid who just had an incredible playoffs, or maybe they really think they're onto something. Colten Ellis was mentioned above, this could be a trade that looks really good in a few years or it can look pretty bad.

The Huskies are great at drafting. They traded their 21th pick 2022 Justin Carbonneau and 70th pick 2021 Theo Lemieux to Blainville-Boisbriand for 1+2+2+4.

Drafting and development is just as important. They're definitely the model small market organization... hell, the "small market" qualifier isn't necessarily, really.
