Yea, like with players, when Coaches or execs get a promotion, it's usually bragged about and publicized by CHL teams.

In a way these types of changes can be a blessing in disguise. I wish all the best for Favreau but the 2023-24 team has to win with defense. Last year's team just tried to out score opponents.
Strange way he may not have been the best candidate for this coming design of team. He was perfect for the last team.
This is coming from someone who was in his camp all along when some other posters wanted him replaced over the previous season. If they are serious about winning they may just have caught a break. New voice in room hired for this type of team.

Does anyone find this weird? There’s a lot of rumours of him going to Gatineau and that’s the part that makes me question things. First question I have overall that hasn’t really been talked about is how long was his contract? If he quit and takes another job while in the Q while still technically under contract what’s the rules there? Or was he only on a 2 year contract and just basically said I’m not resigning?
This could all be pointless because he’s not actually with Gatineau yet or officially but there seems to be a lot of smoke around this. To me this does make sense right now. Halifax is considered if not the top one of the top contenders in the league and Gatineau is rebuilding. Now he is from the area and I need to emphasize I don’t know this but maybe a family member isn’t well and he want to be closer to home for that reason. That would make sense. If he went there to be both the GM and coach that might make sense too but the GM role was filled.
Like I said a lot of smoke is around the Gatineau talk but what about the senators and maybe something there. They have new ownership and maybe he might be able to get some sort of job there? That would make more sense than the Gatineau job.
Or was he strictly Bobby’s boy and now Bobby is gone he’s out too? This just seems weird overall. The timing doesn’t make sense either. Why not do it before the draft so they can maybe reevaluate what to do this coming season. Man there’s way more to this I’m sure.

Odd timing for sure. Something seems off. It could be as simple as wanting to be closer to home....or not. We'll likely never know.
Coming off a finals appearance, looking at another contending team this year, to just up and leave out of nowhere? Weird. Oh well, life goes on. I'm sure the team will find a capable replacement.
Good luck to Sylvain.

Someone on the french board says he might go to Drummondville. Following the Ducharme path!

So is this an educated guess or do u have some inside knowledge? I wouldn't be happy if u went to Drummondville, that is not exactly him going home to coach imo. Hopefully for him he moves up in the coaching world.

Hopefully for him he moves up in the coaching world. If he was going pro, why wouldn't they just say that? In Sherbrooke's press release they said Stephan Julien was going to the AHL - didn't name the team.

But not sure it’s really the plan just might fall into it.

Favreau is the new head coach in Drummondville.

So he resigns for “personal reasons” and then less than a month takes the HC job with another team.
I could say about Favreau what I want to say but will defer as I don’t feel like earning a ban, I’ll just say I certainly do not wish him the best in his career going forward.
My question is this - he was under contract to the Mooseheads, he wasn’t fired so do the Mooseheads have the right to draft pick compensation?
I certainly imagine if the scenario was vice versa Drummondville would be wanting compensation.

Favreau’s contract was expiring. They clearly did not want to offer him long term or something like that. I don’t think Favreau is to blame, he was clearly not Cam or New owners’s pick. The coaching staff is actually the least of my worries right now. I think that there is a lot of work to do without any Euros and decent 20s on the Team right now (Maybe Whynot). As of today, this team is not scary at all for the likes of Moncton, CB, Rimouski and definitely not for Victo, RN and Drummondville. I hope it will be fixed, but we know our assets are limited. Let’s see how it goes this week at the Euro draft. Good luck to Favreau, he deserves what is happening to him.

We are all saying the same thing I believe. Is it me that has bad information about contract? Favreau had no contract left I believe? There is a difference between resigning 2 weeks before contract expiration and leaving with 2 years left. I believe Favreau had not contract for next season and he had been negotiating to extend long term and it was not the Moose view? So he just said, I need to go two weeks before contract expiration, especially with all the nice destinations available for him, which I totally understand if negotiations did not go well. I also believe that Ducharme left amicably, but in Ducharme case, I believe that is was true that he wanted to get closer to family. Favreau, it's more a Moose management decision, I understand.
