Absolutely overdue! I don't think anyone would have complained if this had happened 5 seasons ago. At least I wouldn't have. Pretty sure it was unofficially retired anyway, I don't believe another player had worn 22 since MacK. Pretty cool 22 is retired on the 22nd though!

That is some dandy GM-ing ! The fact he screwed Patty Roy out of Erne and Roy had to send picks to get him was a beauty, at least that's how I remember it, without looking it up. Halifax only used one of the 1st picks of the Erne deal to get MacKinnon and used the other one on another trade later. The third 1st pick was sent back to Quebec who again traded it to Halifax for Gabriel Desjardins. Halifax used the extra first pick on Jack Eichel so it was lost in the cupboard. Erne was well worth the trade because him being stolen away pushed Roy who decided to go for Duclair just after despite having no deal with him. So for the price of two first picks we got Erne and Duclair at the end. Win-win Well, Eichel was returned to the draft for a compensation pick. Only a second rounder... but it ended up being Maxime Fortier, the franchises 3rd all-time leading scorer That said, Eichel reporting could have easily meant a Memorial Cup repeat. Drouin - Eichel - Garoury Ashley- Andrews- Ehlers Ciampini- D.Moynihan -Ryan C. Moynihan - Shewfelt - Meier That forward depth is SILLY.

I thought Fucale was not very good in the 2013-2014 playoffs vs Val'dor I believe. I think they could have made it to the finals again.

Fucale wasn't very good at all against Val-d'Or but I think with Eichel the Mooseheads can maybe out-score that problem haha. MAYBE.

The final 4 teams that year were very close. Both semis and the final went 7 games.

The part that gets me is the haul Halifax would have brought in for Eichel in 2015. Mem Cup year, Quebec hosting... sky high. That sets you up pretty nice for the 18/19 season. ahhh... to dream.

Who knows how stuff would have gone? It might have had the opposite effect. I mean, who's selling with a top line of Ehlers - Eichel - Meier? That 14-15 team was... well it was a bad team propped up by a few exceptional pieces... BUT, it did play 14 playoff games. It is absolutely possible that's a team that makes the 3rd round of the playoffs with Eichel lol.
