Sounds like no matter which network takes a go at it there's just no market for regular season CHL as a viable TV product.
Still will be a focus on playoffs including every league final.

Random CHL games aren't going to draw ratings. Sports is like everything else we consume, it's a story, an ongoing narrative with it's own twists and turns and plot twists. It's hard to get invested in just... a single game on some random Friday. For any sport to take off it needs to be on TV consistently. People could get invested in a playoff series, but... yea, random regular season games, I'm not surprised they're not a hit.

People could get invested in a playoff series, but... yea, random regular season games, I'm not surprised they're not a hit. Ultimately as much as we'd like the CHL to be more then what it is....it is really hard to sell something nationally that doesnt sell in its own market. I thought when Sportsnet launched and we eventually ended up with regional TSN's and Sportsnet's that the CHL as a built in regional option could flourish....look at what a small broadcaster like Eastlink has done with regional Q games for 2 decades... But I think the idea is that national will never work and regional is the only way to really go with it. Downside there is fewer and fewer people have Eastlink as a provider every year as cords get cut and competition increases. So a shrinking audience becomes a tough investment when projecting long term.
