Moncton’s n rolls into town to face our beloved Halifax Mooseheads. They have identical records at 8-3-1. Each teams a special teams are very close too. Halifax PP is running at 23% clip and Moncton is at a 24% clip while both teams PK is working at 80.6%. The big difference is scoring, Moncton has 52 goals and 36 against. While Halifax has 42 for and 28 against.
Now up until the past 2 games Halifax has been playing without the raining league MVP slash scoring champ. After a season of averaging 2 plus points per game he’s already averaging 3 points per game. I feel he’s going to have a big game tonight against Moncton’s young team.
I think Halifax is going to win a score of 6-2.

Lines are pretty interesting tonight, I like them!
Levesque | Vidicek | Dumais Kilfoil | Cataford | Fournier Ponzetto | MacPhee | Peitzsche Todd | Moser
Kilfoil moves to the left wing, should be interesting to see Ponzetto and Peitzsche play together.
Looking forward to watching Caleb Desnoyers and others tonight, should be a good one. Even records going into this one.
Moncton Lines
Loshing | Desnoyers | Mercier Mueller | Sumpf | Auger Carrier | Lounsbury | Collard Trenholm? | Deslauriers | Glas
STATS Jordan Dumais (HAL) | 3g 3a | 6pts Yoan Loshing (MON) | 9g 10a | 19pts Mathieu Cataford (HAL) | 4g 12a | 16pts Brody Fournier (HAL) | 7g 5a | 12pts Miles Muller (MON) | 5g 7a | 12pts Lou Levesque (HAL) | 6g 5a | 11pts Caleb Desnoyers (MON) | 3g 8a | 11pts Vincent Collard (MON) | 6g 4a | 10pts Markus Vidicek (HAL) | 4g 6a | 10pts
Incredibly close in stats.

Welp, Mathis Rousseau is out, late scratch with an illness.
This should make things interesting, going to be a real tough one.
Jack Milner gets the start, 1.25GAA NSU18 Sam Madgett gets the backup.

Moose have been great for large parts of this game but have a couple little things to work on as the goals or at least two of them for sure were from clear and mostly positional mistakes. Rousseau in nets and one or two of those probably get stopped with how well he's playing but tough to fault Milner too much considering they're from two breakaways and a guy walking in wide open. Beautiful goal by Schultz, he's having an inspired game.
Feel bad for Ponzetto getting his first goal called back. He's got a long way to go but he's been a much better player the last couple weeks. There's going to be a good player there, I just think it takes beyond this year to really see it.
Peitzsche quietly with his 5th, awesome setup by Levesque.

Well we’re better but just not tonight. Milner needs to step it up if we wanna be contenders (though I’m not saying this loss is on him). The D felt like they went into the game with the attitude “Moncton is young, it won’t be bad”. Way too many breakaways for Moncton. Gotta give credit for not giving up even late in the game tho. Levesque is gonna be really important throughout the season (or a nice asset if we sell around christmas).

D sure wasn’t great but that’s not what lost this game. Milner is not a Q caliber goalie. He is bad and to be honest he’s lucky Moncton aim was off a bit tonight. I think they had 5 post and Jack didn’t even flinch on any of them because he was so lost out there. He’s got to go.

Furlong (rightly) had his ass stapled to the bench in the second. He just seems to struggle so much picking up bouncing pucks, terrible eye-hand coordination. Overall, it was deja vu to the firewagon hockey we saw at the beginning of last year, bad pinches and odd man rushes galore. Got burned tonight with our backup in net who can't seem to come up with a big save. But I'll say the same thing I said last year - lots of time to tighten things up.

We have a Good team, not Strong and not Great, so those kind of games will happen a lot if the team stays like that. We have too many holes. Having two great goalies will be impossible. So if something would happen to Rousseau, we better close the shop and sell our top assets rather than just try with what we have. I can’t believe that the team will stay like that, but I know our assets for trade are very limited. I’m hoping for some miracle from Cam, but my hope are not high.

Two more things:
Levesque and Dumais have zero chemistry together and probably need to be broken up soon.
MacKinnon has been quietly very impressive so far this year. Probably our most consistent defenceman and didn't make many mistakes tonight. He's always had the physicality, but now he's transporting the puck with a confidence I've not seen from him before. Nashville should be very happy with the way he is progressing.
