Wow that was ugly. Should we be concerned at the number of shots they are giving up and the lack of shots by the Mooseheads. It is pretty apparent they need to add a few offensive players. Seems to be a consistent pattern and not a good one. Most other seasons it's been the Mooseheads outshooting their opponent. Still, I can't put my finger on what's different... In my opinion: a defensive system that allows/forces a lot of perimeter shooting from the opponents, and a bunch of forwards who love playing tic-tac-toe instead of shooting. In both of these cases, it feels a bit "more like a feature than a bug".

Good that you are not concerned at this point, that is great. I must not know my hockey enough. If this team is 2nd in the CHL while they barely beat bottom of the league teams, the CHL is very bad this year. But I agree, with this average team, I still thnk that we can win a series or two in the playoff. I know that we’re winning, but like it was said above, pretty ugly, lol I definitely wasn't trying to imply anything of the sort. All I'm saying is there's some sort of illness running through the team that had several players barely able to finish their second game in less than 24 hours (and in some cases, they were unable to) and they still found a way to win, with their rookie backup in net. Good teams find a way to win games they don't deserve, and the mooseheads probably didn't deserve either game this weekend, yet they walk away with 4 points. At the end of the day, a W is a W, nobody is going to remember how badly we were outshot getting those 4 points when we're battling for the top of the league standings in February. As for people who are all doom and gloom about the holes in the lineup, idk. Look at the traditional asking price for a backup goalie, if Milner ends up not working out they can probably bring someone in pretty cheap, we don't need a 1 or a 1A, just someone who can provide some saves every 3 or 4 games. We don't have game-breakers like L'Heureux or Lawrence or Doucet, that's true, but we do have one dominant line and you can see the knock-on effect that's having. Guys like Levesque, Crosby, Fournier, Peitzsche and Kilfoil are finding their way onto the scoresheet. I won't say that to be competitive the Mooseheads don't need a couple pieces, but like.... it's not as far off as some people are painting the situation to be. If you add another strong center to the mix and this team can compete with anyone. As for the CHL rankings, those have always been questionable. Dumais is a name and they see a lof of the plyers who made the finals last year back, it's easy to see why they want to place Halifax so high, even tho they're probably not the second best team in the CHL right now. In a weird way, I feel more confident at the end of October this year than I did at the end of October last year. And regarding the CHL rankings: don't forget that we beat Royun which counts for a lot this early in the season.

I was at the game, was a good game overall and the Moose didn't play terrible by any means but the Titan really applied the pressure, the momentum shifted after it was 2-1 and the Moose took advantage of that and scored 3 more unanswered. If not for the bad misplay by the Titan D that lead to Vidicek's short-handed goal I think the Titan take that one in the 3rd for sure. The 5 on 3 powerplay game winning goal was also a really soft call on the refs part against Maddigan, lays a hip check and gets called for tripping...Not trying to be biased, I think anyone who watches would say that's a soft call.
I think what the Moose lack is similar to the Titan, outside of their top 2 lines the depth can disappear at times. The D core is still solid as well. I think adding Komorov out of Quebec as an upgrade on Ponzetto, and 2-3 talented/depth forwards up front, and a back up goalie to give Rousseau a break at times, this team could be a big threat to go back to the finals.
There should be lots of nice pieces to go after at Christmas.
