I mean is this a surprise to really anybody. Man, nobody rips this team more then I do. But Jeremy is simply exposing himself for being poor at his job here. He's the sports reporter for the CB Post. We have 1 major sports team here. They posted about that town hall days ago. We had talked about it here when they did. He said they listed no time....it was clearly on the release they put out. What is the CB posts sports reporter doing if he's not bothering to check the only local teams social media presence for days in the middle of their season? Am I missing something here that would make it the teams fault? Does Jeremy actually expect the sports team to personally email him every time they're doing some fan or community outreach? Has it really been THAT long since our journalists actually had to do some journalism that they forgot how they're supposed to do their jobs? I know they have it easier in this world where its accepted that they're a promotional extension of the hockey team but man thats a bad look from a young journalist. No other way of viewing it, unless someone can share something i'm clearly not seeing.

so how did town hall version 4.0 go? anybody actually ask a tough question? Nope. Some complaining that the team does too many stretch passes vs other teams shorter style breakouts to which Louis' answer was "....we practice that" The generic "nobody stands in front of the net" Someone asked if we had any input in our schedule...and we do but with so many blackout dates this year it was always going to be a bad schedule. Someone who said everything is on track for a great 2nd half. Sly sticking to his 3 year plan with everything looking great. Some good questions asked around ticketing...why there's no redemption options for example. Lots of complaining that we have more travel and less practices vs everyone else. Oh and the popular revisionist history when referencing Joey Haddad's time here and how the organ and fans would lift the spirits of the team during that era but our fans don't do that now.

I'm not taking Jeremy off the hot seat here, but on the question of the Eagles / CB Post lack of communication, I think it would have made sense for the Eagles to reach out to the Post to get a write-up about the Town Hall online or in the paper on Tuesday or Wednesday, to try to get more people out to the event. Some of those people might have been potential ticket buyers?

Some of those people might have been potential ticket buyers? Ultimately society has drastically changed how news and information is shared. The CB Post's readership numbers are a fraction of what a good social media presence would present. You're also only getting a certain type of fan out to an event like that. The CB Post is generic...hits arguably everyone but also i'm someone who doesn't know of 1 person my age or younger who reads the CB Post in any form beyond what they share on social media which is limited now with Facebook not sharing any news. So its no longer the outlet it was 10 or 20 years ago. The teams fans follow it on social media. There was a multiple day warning that this event was happening. The flip side: Do you really want that generic person who takes in a game every year and has no knowledge of the team or league up there asking dumb questions? I want hardcore fans who understand the league and can form their own opinions. For the most part thats what there was at that so I think they marketed it exactly as they should have. The last thing you want to see from those things is uninformed terrible opinions dominating the Q/A portion. For the most part...some good things were asked last night. I personally would have preferred more challenging of Sly on direction and wish someone asked what role the new VP has and why he can't attend fan facing events in the community like last nights. But I had no issue in how they set it up and executed it.

I like the idea of a town hall but ultimately if you have one every year and nothing really changes, and noone is allowed to hold anyone accountable .... it becomes nothing more than a cheap way for the team to say hey we did this we tried.....
the notion the reporter didn't know it was going on until a few hours beforehand is just poor professionalism on his part..... i live in PEI and I knew it was happening a week beforehand

I'd love to know whether its the team, the building, or the league getting in the way of some of this stuff. But we also have an owner who says stuff like this: "I'm not sure what the issue is of why we're not getting the attendance,” Simon said. “Our record at home has not been the greatest, but listen we have some great hockey players." "I'm not sure what the issue is" Then "Our record at home has not been the greatest" And of course "We have some great hockey players" I've followed the league since the Eagles came in. Started following really closely around 2000/2001ish. 2-3 players have been "great" enough to move tickets. We had one here, future HOF goaltender soon to be 2nd all time in NHL wins by a goaltender and #1 overall draft pick in what was considered the deepest draft in history, and even he didn't move tickets but people will talk now like he played in front of 3500 loud and energetic fans every night because revisionist history around here is batshit crazy. This version of the Eagles has no great hockey players. It has some good ones. But not 1 person east of Ontario is going out of there own way to buy a ticket to watch anyone on this Eagles team. So it really can he as simple as the home crowd getting the shaft....year after year after year after year after year after year with new marketing person after new marketing person after new marketing person after new marketing person....its more amazing that a billionaire cant understand why local people have no interest in that pattern.
