Just did some rough math, our forwards avg to about 185, as a team 188. Up there with Drummondville for heaviest in the league.

Hearing Cibulka for 2 2nds. Not sure if any players are heading to Valdor but those are the picks.

I still believe Desjardins part of that deal and makes most sense - I would say Stahon probably going to be heading back to czechia if he can’t find a home in the league

Does Shortall become Expendable for an OA forward, or a younger D go to Jr. A for heavier minutes? If this is the return going back I'll be surprised but intrigued to see what happens. If this is the conclusion of our trade period I will be content.

One mistake many Q contenders make is going for talent over heart and character when it comes to rounding out a competitive roster. We've seen it over the years. Some years it didn't matter....other years it felt like it was what mattered the most after a disappointment. For this team at this time there's an argument to be made for riding it out with a Shortall vs paying for an upgrade that likely doesn't change the teams path all that much.

I 100% agree given the current state of the team. Management is preaching a need for offense, however there still needs to be a defensive presence along the blueline, especially if Cibulka is coming in with a mindset priority to create scoring opportunities. Keeping Shortall and what's left of our 2025/2026 draft capital will only help us for next season and beyond instead of wasting it now to win MAYBE 1-2 more playoff games? Considering what we gave up to get Shortall here we might as well squeeze out every last drop of value.

I would not think it would be more costly if he plays at 20. I would think they are assuming he is back as a 20. It may be somewhat close to the Langlois trade value. Perhaps one of their 24 seconds and a 26 second. Maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder or prospect as well. If he didn't return next year I would be more inclined to think of a return of the future 2nd. If they give up two 2nds for a half year, it makes the Langlois return look even worse.

I would assume they would want a young player back. And cant see them selling a world junior euro for only 2 2nds. He would be an upgrade on a number of teams id assume. Plus Sly rarely makes a deal without overpaying.

I’m hearing it’s picks plus a dmen that’s not Desjardins. Possibly Biggar or Shortall. I know they just lost Doucet due to injury and they’re possibly putting Turgeon on waivers. So they have a 20 yo spot open.
Not sure if Stahon is involved or not.

Can’t imagine it’s their captain in Biggar. Hopefully they go the cheap route to pick up a 20 year old forward.

If it is Shortall going the other way to Val dor then I hope sly doesn’t overpay on a 20 yr old forward , i think we could get one of Orr or Horth for a decent price , it won’t be Biggar going since he was slys boy in Bathurst . It makes sense for shortall to leave, I think he is the last member of team from the Carriere era .

Every single time I watch the Eagles play - he's the balls of the team. He doesn't take any nights off - home or away. You are right but that doesn't seem to matter anymore around here .

That's what I keep thinking with the Shortall talk, he makes CB so much tougher to play against. If he's gone I'd expect five groups of forwards in the east that would be happy with that news. It's kind of like the talk about Bac upgrading Chouinard.
