I take the Nova Scotia 102 everyday to and from work into Halifax and the number of accidents is a weekly (if not more) occurrence during rush hours. Never are there police directing traffic at a further exit back of the accident, they just keep letting the traffic build and build. Is it any different in your location when there is an accident? There are so many little things that just seem to be mismanaged as the population continues to explode.

I think here on PEI it depends on the severity and size of the crash.
I was in Fredericton over the summer and I was in a crash thanks to someone running a red. Police directed traffic around the vehicles after all of us involved were safely out of the intersection. However we were also lucky that an off-duty officer was out for her daily jog and saw everything happened.
When the big crash happened here on Friday, they shut down the road and even redirected non-urgent ER visits to Summerside and activated a Code Orange at the QEH.
