huh...Wenatchee is 3rd in the WHL standings and they just traded off Matthew Savoie and Connor Geekie. Not sure I've ever seen this before.
however, looking at stats and everything it's unlikely for them to be better than Prince George, Portland, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Medicine Hat so maybe they're overachieving and they'd rather just start the rebuild now.
interesting overall and they gained 4 1sts + by trading both guys.

After everything they traded last season(as Winnipeg) they had like 5 draft picks total over the next few years so they needed to do this

Winnipeg (now Wenatchee) went all in the last 2 seasons and got thumped at the finals both times. (Lost to Edmonton in 2022 and Seattle in 2023). This team was a long shot to get out of the west conf this year and if they did the east has either Moose Jaw or Saskatoon my picks one of those to be in final and probably the Memorial Cup.
With a brand new fan base the Wenatchee team just can't be a footstool in year 2. They have good future picks to restock. Some of those picks are 2026 and 2027.
