Looks like Dube's original report just got things backwards. Instead of double hip surgery and treatment for a sports hernia, it's sports hernia surgery and treatment on both hips.
The Blue Jackets docs must think the root cause of the hip issue is the hernia. Fix that surgically, along with 4-6 weeks off the ice to rest/rehab. We should have the luxury of bringing him back slowly as well - if it were me I'd have him playing as a PP specialist off the bat upon his return.
Let's not forget L'Heureux came back last year from hernia surgery with no issue or impact on performance.

“The season is over”
“So much for this season”
“Say goodbye to his chances of making the NHL”
“the reigning league MVP is rumoured to be having season ending surgery”
“I’ve never seen someone need double hip surgery this side of 70”
“Well this is why Cam didn’t add at the deadline” - that one doesn’t make sense, injury or not
So after all that, he’ll be out 6 weeks, and knowing how tough hockey players and how quickly they recover, he’ll likely be back before the end of February?
My god, I came back on these boards expecting to here some real insight now that so many are connected with the team, and can navigate social media with ease
Turns out everyone is just as clueless and delusional as ever.
Your team just loaded up at the Trading Deadline. Your team had THREE (3) players make the Canadian Junior team. Your team was #1 in the CHL for the majority of the 2023 portion of the season. Your team is a junior hockey hotbed.
Try and enjoy it a bit, yeah?

I imagine Jordan will be spending a lot of time with Mike Vogt and this therapy pool over the next little bit.

Honestly, I think that the 6 week timeline was the best piece of news that Mooseheads fans have heard all day. The original report caused a lot of worry (as people automatically assumed the worst rather then waiting for anything official from the Moose or Columbus)- but it seems like the final diagnosis of a treatment for this issue ends up being a lot better then expected (some could argue a bit of a Quebec bias- but it could simply come down to the sources for the original report). If it's anything similar to what it was when L'Heureux had his one last year, I could easily see him returning in a surprisingly quick timeframe (especially with the treatment from Columbus). We are quite fortunate that adding Denis, Reynolds, Sprynar and McPhee at the deadline adds to the depth throughout the 4 lines to where it's really no different then at the start of the year when Dumais was delayed in returning from Columbus camp. Harness that depth during the February run and we'll be fine leading into the playoffs and whenever Dumais returns to the lineup in late February to early March.

I feel like I got duped by the earlier reports when I heard hip surgery it didn’t sound promising but after clarity I feel like we just escape a big loss and are season could be saved with Healthy Dumais return here’s hoping 🤞

Season is back on !! :-)
Better news than first reported. I was shocked that someone could play, and at such a high level, while dealing with pain enough to require surgery in both hips AND a lower abdominal hernia. Glad buddy got it wrong but hopefully Dumais is not putting off the inevitable hip(s) surgery in the coming years and possibly causing more damage. I am no ortho expert.
While my "so much for this season" comment in another thread was knee-jerk, not having Dumais in the playoffs makes the road even more difficult. Though, if you asked me who the Mooseheads could not do without for a playoff run I'd always say Rousseau over Dumais. Let's hope all goes well and he is back in early March.

Just googled the type of surgery.
What are Bilateral Groin (Inguinal) Hernias?
Bilateral hernias are groin (or inguinal) hernias those that occur on both sides of the lower abdomen or groin. Bilateral inguinal hernias result from a weakness of the fascia in the abdominal wall of the groin.
So maybe it was misdiagnosed as hip flexors previously? Just guessing. That would be great news then if this one surgery fixes everything.
