1-1 after 1 period. Sprynar picked up where he left off last night. Mooseheads seem to have a bit more jump today. Hope that continues.

Lol That should build some confidence in him. Credits to Lou-Felix Denis for winning that draw cleanly, that’s exactly what the Mooseheads needed, faceoff wins.

I knew that was going to happen as soon as the puck went off the linesman. What a shitty bounce... this is a much better effort this afternoon too.
EDIT -
WOO VIDICEK! Karma, thank you!

much better effort, well done to the guys! 1st time I've seen all 3 stars of the game given to the losing team.

much better effort, well done to the guys! 1st time I've seen all 3 stars of the game given to the losing team. “3 stars” is such a dumb statistic now, half the time the choices are picked unfairly. Like Joseph Henneberry got 4 goals and 3 assists for Victoriaville against Bathurst and was rewarded the second star. Not necessarily bad choices made by Moncton but if you score the game winning goal and get an assist I think that at least deserves recognition.

If these two teams meet in the 2nd round at the very least it should be a very entertaining series.
Props to Halifax for coming back with a better effort.

Much better effort word on the street is, I was just looking at the standings/Stats it explains why there was only 4 PIMS in the game; Halifax and Moncton are the 2 least penalized teams Halifax is at 293 and Moncton is at 295. I hope they carry over today's effort to Bathurst and Chi at home this week.
I'm glad to see Reynolds finally get one, and it sounds like Sprynar and Denis were good pick ups there is still hope for this team; with Rooster in net.
Let's play with our lines for Thursday, this is what they had today in Moncton, that lineup is starting to get crowded; were do you put Dumais when he comes back. Welsh is here for the remainder of the Season. Oh and Cade Moser is still on the IR.
Kilfoil(Levesque)-Vidicek-Cataford Denis-Reynolds(Crosby)-Sprynar Welsh-Todd-Macphee Mcphee-Fontaine
Defence Pairings Moravec-Furlong Schultz-MacKinnon Martin-Phillips MacKenzie
Rousseau Milner

I want to suggest Denis as the 2C, Reynolds as the 3C but while Crosby and Levesque are out, I feel that would also be wasting a lot of Reynolds potential. When they return something like this maybe: Kilfoil-Vidicek-Cataford Levesque-Denis-Sprynar Macphee-Reynolds-Crosby Mcphee-Todd I just like the idea of having 3 strong centers. I also really like how Sprynar has looked and if he continues to produce maybe you even try swapping Kilfoil and him. I agree with what someone else was saying that Kilfoil just isn't quite ready for the amount of playing time he is getting. When Dumais returns, put him back in top line eventually, and maybe put Levesque and Crosby with Reynolds and Kilfoil on the second line. Then I feel there's 3 balanced but still offensively dangerous lines.

Kilfoil has to be removed from the top line, he’s just not ready. He doesn’t win battles & doesn’t move the puck nearly quick enough. Today he was putting himself in very dangerous positions because he was holding onto the puck too long. The top line had nothing going last night or today with him on it. Only after they took him off and put Sprynar on it did they get going, but they were only together for the last 3 shifts of regulation.
That all being said, putting Sprynar on the first line pushed Cataford over to the other side where he’s used to playing. Cataford has been playing very individual when playing on Dumais’ side.
Here’s my take on what the forward lines should be when we are healthy until Dumais gets back;
Cataford / Vidicek / Sprynar Levesque / Reynolds / Crosby Kilfoil / Denis / B. MacPhee Todd / L. McPhee / Moser
Fontaine / Welsh

If they meet in the second round I don’t like Halifax’s chances. I mean with a healthy lineup Halifax is better in my opinion. I like their chances but it's for sure not a slam dunk series which speaks volumes about the caliber of the Moose this year. Most contenders wipe the floor with their 2nd round opponent. In the last five playoff years the eventual league champs have gone a combined 18-0 against their 2nd round opponents. I would expect a Halifax/Moncton series to go at least six

On a positive note: This game was one of the first times where I was excited for our second line to get on the ice. For the first half of the season I was only hoping to not get scored on when the first line wasn't on the ice. I am excited to see our third line once Dumais, Levesque and Crosby are back. We should have 3 lines that all have a good chance to score.
Ideally we can get a win streak going until Feb 1st when we are going to face Drummondville and then Victoriaville right after. Those will be key games to see how we fare against some of the best teams in the league. Getting the W's now would give the team some big confidence which, I think, some of our players are missing right now.
