Could Edmundston NB work as a potential candidate for a team? They support their JrA team very well. Their current arena holds 2400 seats for hockey..can't see that as being large enough......so, IMO, they would need to build a new arena

If the building is under 4000 its a tough sell for a Q team. The upside is basically non-existent without that as there's no way to make money on a playoff run if your max is under 3000 if you're allowed some standing room.

It's designed like a smaller version of the KC Irving Center. There's about a 700 seat difference between the two, but I'm not sure that Edmunston could even add that many. That being said, fire code allows for up to 3700.

The economy of the region makes long term survival difficult even if the team has success. Give any region a 4-5 year period like Bathurst had in their honeymoon phase and things will look great. But we're seeing how once rebuilds and mismanagement and players not wanting to report start being the headlines the support isn't always there. If you're evaluating any market based on a 5-6 year cycle with a rebuild and a peak you need to see the path to not carrying long term deficits. I don't think those economic conditions exist anywhere in the Maritimes short of HRM getting a 2nd team which we all know isn't happening.

3700 is capacity using floor seating, I am pretty sure the Fire code is in the 2800 range for hockey games, I have been in the building during play-offs and it was tipping the scale at 3000 fans, you couldn't move.
