Extremely quiet for a fairly significant night for the organization…. Anyone watch? How was Newcombe?

Extremely quiet for a fairly significant night for the organization…. Anyone watch? How was Newcombe? He looked alright. He had some scoring chances. He missed an empty netter. Don't think I've been so heart broken for an empty netter with a 3 goal lead.

Extremely quiet for a fairly significant night for the organization…. Anyone watch? How was Newcombe? What you'd expect....full of energy and adrenaline but not quite in sync with his linemates. The 3rd line carried us. Our skill guys didn't have a great night. Thought Burbridge had a rough night. Completed more passes to Sags players than ours. Cibulka has more grit then I expected. Stepped up on a couple of guys coming in on the rush which is a nice element in a guy who also has good puck skills. Ruccia was excellent.

It was a game that I felt emotions led into puck control, everyone was trying to do a little to much last night I thought, but overall a good win on home ice.
Ruccia was very good, one thing I do notice as a comparison of last year over this year, secondary scoring chances are way down. A combination of rebound control, which Ruccia always suffered from and commitment by the team to net front awareness has really increased. Many times it's one and done, puck is cleared or covered.
Cibulka is getting better every game, he and Schmitt are 2 of the best skating D-men in the league.
Newcombe was rusty, plain and simple, but his conditioning was very good, impressive to be honest. I thought both MacDonald and Houde, struggled and Newcombe was the most energetic guy on that line. That chemistry will come.
Murphy looked fine, his is a big boy. Skating needs work, but I seem some good decision making and poise.
Important to not look past the Sea Dogs and focus on Halifax.

Thanks for the updates. How did Will Murphy look? He was good in limited minutes. He physically looks like he's 19 or 20. Excited for his future.

This has been a trend for a few weeks now, it's like he is playing pond hockey with his buddies.

When you look at MacDonald in a warmup....he looks great. Big guy. Can shoot the puck. Good skills. But after most games I find he's a bit of a let down. His production kind of matches up with that being well under a point per game. But I wonder if that sees a little more creativity by the coaching staff to try and get others some minutes and shelter him a bit more. Newcombe returning might give them the weapons to be a bit more creative with that top 6.

To me its more of a guy squeezing the stick too hard and trying to create vs a frustrated guy playing selfish. He's flying through zones but not aware of who is with him. Last night he wasn't looking to pass until he had no options. Slowing things down a bit would go a long way for him right now.

This is an add on to what’s being said and more of my opinion but the last while I haven’t seen much out of Patterson, Burbidge, or MacDonald. I’ve been really liking Roy, Houde, Lavalle, and Romeo. Romeo seems to have brought some physicality with him throwing some good hits opening some space up. Cibulka what a great skater he is and also hasn’t seemed to get flustered just great poise with the puck. Schmitt has been playing well and are a great scoring chance for himself. Murphy I didn’t notice much last night which should be good for a dman in his position, a puck went through Ruccia’s legs last night and he was there to drag it off the line and put it back under Ruccia for a whistle which I was happy to see him do in his first Q game. Ruccia what else is there to say, I didn’t think he was even a jr a goalie until this season where he and Milota have been lights out

Chalk it up to the ups and downs of the long grind of a hockey season.
