I hope so. As much as I dispise Russia as a state right now, teenage hockey players have nothing to do with that.
In fact offering these kids a pathway out of that seems like a net positive to me.

Didn't I read somewhere that there's a new law in Russia that says that hockey players have to play for 5 years in Russia before they can play elsewhere? Or is that only for professionals? Either way, I'm not against allowing them back in the draft, but difficulty in getting them out of Russia may deter a lot of teams from drafting Russians. Belarsians I'm not so sure about.

Awesome news!! IIHF could wake up that would be great I think most people don't have a problem with Russian players on CHL, NCAA, or USHL rosters. The issue is allowing the Russian name and banner at international events, and I can't say I disagree.

This... the invasion of Ukraine is IIHF's motive but Russia's state-sponsored doping keeps on being an issue in other sports.
