Interesting how the call was changed as it was initially check from behind. Just adding to the circus of events from last night. Call on the ice was always check to the head. Likely a keying error on the web scoring.

yeah...don't think that warrants 5 and a game at all...the initial point of contact was the shoulder but his body like "slid" upwards when finishing the check and caught his head a little bit. Not a malicious hit by any means.

I just hope that the Q doesn't step in and add insult to injury, so to speak and impose any suspensions in an attempt to support last night's very biased officiating!
In reality, the Eagles should be getting an apology from the league for the two very questionable calls by the officials; the 5 minute review call on Romeo and the non 5 minute major review call on the crosscheck to the head!
Unfortunately, this league often disappoints me as a hockey fan.

The M in QMJHL might stand for Maritimes but this has always been a Quebec League and always will be .......even with the name Change ......we all still call it the Q . If you truly believe last night was a Home Town Bias then you shouldn't be surprised with how everything unfolded . The best thing we can do is just like a Boxer .....deliver a Knockout Punch Home here on Monday ....jump on them Quickly and take it out of the Judges ( Officials) Hands .

Perhaps, I could have referred to it as one sided officiating?
Whatever one calls it, it was very inconsistent and frustrating. There were two quite long reviews changing 2 minute penalties into 5 minute majors with both players being tossed from the game and a very quick review that basically dismissed a blatant forceful cross check to the head as only a 2 minute penalty.
It did surprise me because Baie Comeau is a very strong team and shouldn't need any kind of extra help.

The more I watch the hits I expect the calls the way the refs made them. From years and years of seeing how hits like that are assessed in this league I expected these calls and it's really hard to debate the ref decision when they make a call and then get the tablet out and still send the guy to the room. 95% of time I expect that result no matter what I think the call should be.
That said...the play that tipped the game was the goal at end of 2nd period on the 2 on 1 (it was a 4 on 4 situation).
Clock winding down and Cape Breton had control of puck. 12 seconds they had the puck forcing a play a little too soon in the offensive zone. Ahead of that play Ruccia and D had stopped some good chances but they had a chance to go to room up 3-2 and having killed most of 2 major penalties.
That late goal..sloppy decision and timing tilted the momentum the other way.

I seen 15 hits worst then that last night in the leafs game. As a matter of fact 6’5 Chinouard is usually on the other end of them, go back and watch game 1. The Schmitt hit was absolutely intentional. Gagnon has his stick in a cross check position well before contact was made. Schmitt recognized he was about to get cross checked in the head and tried to avoid it. He is literally grabbing his ear while spinning to the ice. With that said , I am not surprised by any of the calls. Sly has been around the league a long time, for him to react the way he did, says it all. Anyway, it’s in the past now, time to make hay at home.

People can cry about officiating but to let it dominate every single post that every single person has coming out of the game is just as frustrating. We blew a huge chance by letting that game slip away. Fullerton's hit was black and white stupid and undisciplined and nothing anyone can complain about. Refs calling things your way or not its still about execution. Every single team knows who their top guys are and should be doing everything to stop them and they're still lighting it up. Its the 8th seed losing to the #1 team in the entire CHL. This idea that the refs stole a victory from us when we did so much to hurt ourselves is just wrong. Love the passion. Love that people are into it. But I will leave it at this: let 1% of that energy slip into the rink tonight and this thing is over because you're playing into the hands of the other team. If there's an early Eagles penalty tonight and the fans let the ref become the center of attention the rink might as well be empty because the energy is just going to go to the visiting team. But people will tell you i'm the crazy one because I will say there's no way the QMJHL referees are good enough to even pretend to try to fix a game. If they were good referees they wouldn't be officiating junior hockey playoffs. The bad stuff goes both ways. But fans only ever see it 1 way at this level.

Need the big guns to show up tonight at home, Squires/Newcombe/MacDonald/Cibulka, etc. Series is far from over and a win tonight would solidify that. You're very rarely going to hold B-C to 2/3 goals, so you're going to need to outscore them.
Should be a fun one tonight, I wasn't able to make the Chicoutimi games but I did snag tickets for tonight. C200 has arguably been the toughest rink to play in as a visiting team these playoffs.

Agreed. Play the game and leave the calls from the last game behind and aim to draw them this game. Or use the last game as motivation.
BC looked beatable last game, but at the same time had bursts where it appeared they could be everywhere at once or snake in with little resistance. BC is big, fast, and skilled so the contrast is huge in comparison to Rimouski and Chicoutimi.
Excited for everybody who was able to get tickets tonight. I hope the crowd stays loud and wild throughout. The community has certainly shown that we can and we will support such big marqui tournaments and playoff games.

A year ago Halifax lost game 1 and game 2 at home to Sherbrooke and didn't have any excuses for it.
Moral of the story they won the next 4 including all 3 in Sherbrooke. And won in 6 games. And they looked worse in the first 2 games than the Eagles did on the road in their first 2 semi-final games.
New game. Friendlier arena. Stay focused on the road ahead not the one behind. Might catch them looking back.
