Great news for Leask after having Stich change his jersey number yet again!
JR signs in San Jose for 500k for 1 season. Any team that wouldn't pay Roenick 500k is out of their damn mind IMO. Fans love this guy especially in the US markets great move by the Sharks on this one!

Not really. I wish he'd just retire and be done with it. I had accepted that fact coming into this year that I wouldn't see him play anymore. Plus he will be getting a very minor role with the Sharks with all the talent they have up front. He'd have been better off joining Sutter and the Flames last year instead of Gretzky in Phoenix. He should have played for a Canadian team while he still had some legs left. I did enjoy watching him knock the Leafs out of the playoffs in 2003 though with the Flyers.. ;D

Not sure if I like watching him play as much now as I do love listening to his comments. PS - Still think he should be the announcer at the Sea Dog games that'd be awesome his trip on OTR was awesome!

I think Roenick should pay the sharks 500 k to play with them, Jeremy should have retired after the terrible season he had with the Kings but at least JR has another crack at reaching the 500 goal plateau

I know he's not gonna blow anyone away or anything but to add a guy like Roenick who has more passion for the game then most players for 500k is a solid deal.

Still a dumb move. He's not going to fit in very high on the Sharks pecking order. Phoenix last year had him playing a checking line role most of the time with guys like Scatchard. He should have gone to Calgary where he'd likely have been on the second line, got PP time, etc etc. Better yet get the heck out of the Western conference and horrid travel schedule. I can understand the desire to keep playing and such but for San Jose? Not a good fit at all IMO.

I suppose he likes the idea of playing for a team that is poised to win a cup quite possibly. He obviously knows he will only play a limited role but he'll get his 500 goals and have a shot at a Stanley Cup so that part works well for him.
For 500k I say they both win!

The Sharks don't have a winning mindset. JR could actually get them focussed and on the right track. How ironic that thought is

Yes, but he put himself in a division with Anaheim. And if either Selanne or Niedermayer come back, they are easily the team to beat. And if both,

Yeah I'm sure he was really concerned about being in the same division as Anaheim. Yeah. As for Selanne and Niedermayer if they come back, someone(s) will be needing moved out, or a lot of restructured contracts to fit under the cap.

they actually have the cap space for one, and would only have to move a million or two for both.

they actually have the cap space for one, and would only have to move a million or two for both. The Ducks right now have 1.376 million lleft in cap space this includes having Niedermeyer's contract so that is assuming he's going to play. They need to figure out how they'll sign Selanne if that does infact come into play I would say if Scott plays then maybe they deal Schneider.
