Rumor is last night a few things unfolded that will make local HS hockey interesting this year.
- there will be an interlocking schedule of AAA and AA schools. - Minto withdrew from AA for the season leaving Rothesay, RNS, and St. Stephen. AAA remains Sussex, Hampton, KV, Simonds, St. Malachy's, Saint John, and Harbourview. All teams appear competetive, I think. - RNS was expected to field a second team to play in the HS league and their #1 squad was to play in tournaments only. Apparently the #1 squad will be playing in the league!

your rumors are correct.
all teams will play a home & home with the AAA playing one more game against each AAA openent and AA likewise.
Interesting development for RNS.....Bringing kids across the country to play High School Hockey

From Friday's Telegraph Journal.
High school hockey coverage urged First I must tell you I enjoy your paper, it starts my day. I am writing to you with an idea. I have three grandsons who have or will be playing high school hockey. I have rarely seen high school hockey teams featured in your sports section. There are 10 high school teams in the area, it's a great local rivalry, it's good hockey and it's making a comeback in our area.
It's the same age group as the Vito's midget team, which gets written up several times a week in your paper. Many of the high school kids do not go out for the Vito's, but they are just as good players, many like to play in front of their school. The high school games outdraw the Vito's, some of the rinks are quite full depending on the rivalry and there are many more games, 10 times the number of players, parents and many, many more students.
I used to coach the old Saint John Vocational school and the paper used to write features about our teams. I think you would have the kids and parents reading your paper more if this great local league was featured more in your paper, again I enjoy this paper.

I agree it will be very competetive this season. It probably won't stand up to some of the previous seasons, but I'm looking forward to seeing some of these teams. It is not quite the calibre of Vitos hockey, but there are certainly many players capable of playing that level, mostly grade 11's and 12's. If the City teams are competetive -- in the past few years they've not been -- then it will be very entertaining hockey.
