I know, I know...we've all been down this road, and the Sea Dogs have designated section 7 & 8 as horns sections. However, I do think that this definately has to be revisited, with the possibility of letting the fans use their horns in ANY section of the building.
I witnessed a totally ridiculous example of this NO HORN policy yesterday in section 6. A fella brought an airhorn into that section. Hardly any other fans in that section. 2 of the security guards literally hunted down the person who had the airhorn. I mean...c'mon!...can't Harbour Station security find other things to do, without having to reprimand someone about a horn???
It's no wonder that the kids & fans aren't coming to the games. Having fun is not allowed in the stands, and I guess they don't want atmosphere either!!! Every other rink in the Q allows horns & noisemakers...why can't we???
It's a miracle that security didn't take away the party horns from the kids that were in section F having a birthday yesterday!!

This is a bogus rule that should never have been created!
Why is it such a big deal to have horns we should be try'n to make noise shit they have the noise meter on the jumbo screen. Kids are screaming their little lungs out. I mean I'd almost rather hear my kids blow a horn then scream at the top of their lungs in my ear lol ;D

Stupid rule........change it and we might get rid of the people who think their at the "library". I had my son at the game on the first and some BITCHY woman actually had the nerve to tell him to stop cheering.........he was trying to win the fan of the game, and get the autographed helmet......of course it was when I was up getting a beer, the gutless coward didn't have the nerve to say anything back when I explained the situation, but they did move...F'N assholes deserved a puck in the teeth. Tell my kid to "shut the hell up" again and I'll be sitting in detention with Jimmy or in the lockup.

Come on Dogcatcher! Get the story right or else face some GLARING ERRORS postings against you! Sections 6 & 7 are the designated horn sections, not 7 & 8.
If the guy actually was in section 6 using a horn, they just harassed a guy that was actually in the horn section! Section 8 though is not a horn section. You should know that. Section 8 faces straight out onto the ice, and they could only allow crappy corner spots to be horn sections. ;D

My bad....he was up in 8 (which was empty), and yes the section is 6 & 7...boy was I wrong with that one....however still kind of funny that they would use up manpower to hunt someone down about a horn.

This doesn't surprise me.
I had an air horn last year and was in the horn section, and had it ripped out of my hands.

Okay so I was going to keep my mouth shut on this one but here goes...
One of the stupidest rules I have seen in my life. I attended 98% of the Halifax Mooseheads first three seasons WITH my air horn and moose horn. Could you imagine taking a noise maker to a hockey game to support your team? What a crazy idea. Not once in three years was I approached by another fan or usher to stop using either one. The point is when used properly and respecting others around you there is no issue.
Come on Sea Dogs lets right this wrong.
We have a winning team and a season ticket holder base but still little to no atmosphere in the building on most nights. Time to lighten up with the rules and get some noise going. No more ushers taking horns, asking people to stop cheering or telling them to sit down. Where is the mascot who gets the fans cheering or gets the wave going...oh yeah might stand in someone's view during the game. We can't have that.
Since I am ranting...my 4 year old son was choking on popcorn at the game Sunday and after a few spells each getting worse it was apparent he was not getting any better. I ran up the stairs to get a bottle of water and was greeted at the top by a warden (red vest) telling me to stay in my seat until a stoppage in play. Okay so I have been to just about every game in three years...50% or more in the same section...I know your stupid rules...come on...
Next...my wife actually had an usher tell her to stand behind the magic yellow line the other night, DURING THE INTERMISSION. I felt like asking her if she realized the period ended 10 minutes ago and it was the timbits on the ice not the Sea Dogs.
Win or lose if the product on the ice is good, and it is, and people have fun at the games they will come back. Enforce stupid rules and have ushers harass people and they won't.
Edit: BTW I voted yes... ;D

I have many problems with HS besides horns and idiot ushers. Ever have a kid with icetime? They will not let you on until the second your hour starts even if it's empty. If you are at any other rink, no problem, go on as early as you want. And when the hour is done, the doors come flying open. One time they were scrimmaging and fighting for the puck along the gate and the asshole opens the fucking door on them. We couldn't believe it. Ever lose a puck in the stands? You are not allowed to retrieve them. The old farts come after you. Want your kids to warm up with a lap around the concourse? Nope. The Sea Dogs can do it, but no one else can. I can't wait until all these new rinks are built, so we don't have to use that hole anymore.
Anyone else notice the drinkers at HS? I see bottles in the can almost every game, especially the NW corner. The same punks are continually going out for 'smokes' too. You can walk around the rink plastered, just don't cross the yellow line.
Not having horns and not making noise is a joke. The only reason they have it is to make some stupid manager feel powerful.

We don't really have any problems like that in Bathurst. Occasionally usher will come down and tell you to take your feet off of the seat ahed of you but thats it. Last year when we bought a bottle of pop, we couldn't have the caps on them but I think that was a league thing.
Funny thing though is that in the downstairs portion on the K.C., all of the vending machines say that they are out of order but I needed a pop can and put in some money and sure enough they were working. Thats really it around here.
It seems really stupid how they wont allow people to have horns where-ever they want. The only problem I had with a guy with an air horn was when the guy sitting behind me would set it off at the worse times possible. When the crowd wasn't making any noise or during the intermission. During a goal though he never made any noise. ( for either team)
EDIT::: an usher will come down.* The way I said it made it sound like usher goes to Titan games...

Well the poll has been up for a week and a half now, and not one vote that says no they should not be allowed to be used anywhere in Harbour Station. It would seem to me that most of the general fanbase of the building would be of the same opinion.....that rule should be reversed, there should be horns permitted in every section other than maybe two or three rather than only in two sections. Maybe have no horns in M, 28 and E, or something along those lines then those who are offended by the use of horns could sit in these sections and have their "peace and quiet" if that is what they are looking for.
The staff of the building should be trying to please as many people as possible, and I can understand that maybe some people don't want kids blowing horns in their ear for two and a half hours. We sat in the horn section one game last year when the kids were given "thunder sticks", and I went down to the concourse to get away fron the little buggers myself. After the first period of sitting with three hockey teams of 8 ,9 and 10 year olds I needed a beer and some relative quiet to regain my sanity. But to limit horns to only two sections in the corner behind the netting is really not fair to those who like to make noise and create some excitement in the building....do they really want people to "make some noise" when they flash it on the screen? If so they should change this rule and reverse the proportion of no horn sections vs. horn sections IMO.

The suggestion was made by someone here at work, that they should not allow horns in the lowerbowl as there are quite a few seniors that sit in the lowerbowl, and the lowerbowl is pretty much full, but they should allow horns in the entire upperbowl. Maybe that's the solution??
