OHL club honouring David Ling The Guardian
The Kingston Frontenacs will honour David Ling prior the Ontario Hockey League game tonight against the Belleville Bulls.
Ling will have his No. 17 sweater raised to the rafters to hang among the other elite players in franchise history.
“We found it fitting to honour an individual who is the only player in team history to win the coveted Canadian Hockey League player of the year award, along with the imprint he left after his three seasons with the Frontenacs,’’ said Jeff Stilwell, director of marketing and public relations on the team’s website.
“As well, this is the last season in the Memorial Centre, and he is a great fit.’’
A second-round pick by the Frontenacs in the 1992 OHL Priority selection, Ling recorded a franchise-high 275 penalty minutes in his first season, which still stands today, and recorded the third highest single-season goal total (61) in Frontenac history during his last season with the club.
Ling recorded 115 goals and 160 assists for 275 points in 187 games during his three seasons in Kingston.

www.kingstonfrontenacs.com/news/2007-09-21ling.htmlOn September 21st, 2007, we honour our captain and leader David Ling. To celebrate this occasion, we have invited Frontenacs Alumni David Ling to return and have his number #17 honored as we raise his banner to the rafters of the Kingston Memorial Centre. David will be in attendance to celebrate this evening with us as we honour him. David played for the Frontenacs from 1992-1995 amassing 275 points in 187 games. Obtaining Canadian Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League player of the year honours, Ling is arguably the most popular Kingston Frontenac to ever wear a Kingston jersey.
