Voinov is compared to Ulf Samuelsson in the June 30th edition of SI,in Pierre McGuire's In The Crease section. McGuire is doing a blurb on all the Kings drafted dmen and has this to say about Voinov:Kings drafted uderrated Russian Vjateslav Voinov in the 2nd round, who plays with an edge and is reminiscent of ex-NHLer Ulf Samuelsson... As a Cam Neely fan,I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not...

Red Line compared him to Chis Campoli.

Weren't Voinovs numbers pretty low last year? Like 0-6-6 or something??? sounds like a real Zubov to me :sarcasm Well, he was a 17 year old playing in the Russian Super League, which is about on par with the AHL, so that explains the numbers to a large extent ... also, for some reason, if you look at stats from the Russian league, scoring numbers tend to be low - I don't know if it is a low-scoring league, or if they are simply much stingier with the assists than we are in North America ...

I could be wrong, but i think they only give one assist on a goal.

I could be wrong, but i think they only give one assist on a goal. That is correct. Not possible. The totals of each team have more assists than goals. If they only gave out 1 assist maximum per goal, there would like be less assists than goals on the whole.

I think that someone talked about it before and said that they award two but not nearly as often as in the NHL. Not sure if it was here or HF boards.

They used only award 1, but they recently switched it.
And RSL teams are notorious for not playing young players.
Kirill Koltsov for example, offensive dman. Had 1 assist in 39 games as a 19 year old in the RSL.
Fedor Tyutin, also and offensive dman, had 6 pts in 34 games in the RSL as an 18 year old. The following season he had 59 pts in 53 games for Guelph in the OHL.
Voinov's numbers for a 17 year old are pretty storng. He also played in the RSL at 16...
