GM Ray Delia has left for "personal reasons" so the Cats are now on the search for a new GM. Former GM Bill Schurman is mentioned in the article as a possible candidate ( if he chooses to apply ) .. Schurman left his job in Summerside.

Schurman left his job in Summerside. Maybe the record snowfall amounts last year has his family running to a warmer place. It's the risk you take when you hire very qualified people from away...good people get other opportunities. Sounds like he was well liked. I hope they keep this in mind when hiring the next GM.

They are trying to bring Ted Nolen back to Coach sending Danny Flynn to do GM job and Joseph as an assist to both Ted and Danny....

The Irving's are very demanding ... coming into an Irving owned company at the management level can be very difficult on some people ... more than they bargained for. Many of the long time Irving management group have come up through the system ... drafted and developed rather than brought in as a FA so to speak. I don't know why Delia is leaving ... but it may be a very similar reason to why Danny Flynn and Clem Jodoin left the US to return to Canada.

They are trying to bring Ted Nolen back to Coach sending Danny Flynn to do GM job and Joseph as an assist to both Ted and Danny.... Fred ... (shakes head at himself for even bothering to respond to Fred the Moose) ... our "GM" is the guy that runs the business side of the organization. Danny Flynn is Head Coach and "Director of Player Personel" ... or "Director of Hockey Operations" (can't recall exactly what they call him) ... a position many teams refer to as the "GM". So the new GM we are looking for is a business man ... a marketing guy ... that has nothing to do with the on-ice product.

They are trying to bring Ted Nolen back to Coach sending Danny Flynn to do GM job and Joseph as an assist to both Ted and Danny.... Traditionally, the Cats have had a GM who looks after the business operations, as well as a director of hockey operations, who fills the more classic hockey GM role. It makes sense in a way as the best hockey guys are not necessarily well versed in the business world, and vice versa. Would Flynn have the business skills to look after sales, marketing and administration of the team? It might make sense if Irving feels he does ... a bit of restructuring within the organization - rather than having a well paid GM and coach/director hockey ops, they maintain two well paid positions, folding the GM and director hockey ops into one position and creating a separate head coaching position ...Flynn would relinquish coaching duties, but take on the full GM role including hockey operations and business operations ... Nolan comes in as head coach - but would Nolan be willing to be head coach at the junior level without the GM title as well? Would the fact that the GM would be his good buddy Flynn change things any?

Irving will find the best replacement, no question there. There is also no question about how much Ted, Danny, and Bill enjoyed working together. IMO, there would be no issues with bringing Ted back to coach, and having Danny in charge of hockey operations/scouting...could finally be time to bid adu to Nevin. The future is very bright for the Cats and I look forward to what this season and the next few will bring.

Nevin is the guy that's beaten the bushes for the last 10-11 years and done a very good job drafting, how would giving Flynn his responsibilities improve the club? I doubt Flynn wants to be on the road 100 nights a year scouting MAAA players.

He left two weeks ago, he got a job with the Charlotte Bobcats of the NBA. I can't blame him.

this last message is incorrect. The Wildcats ticket sales rep left to work for the Charlotte Bobcats. Not Ray Delia. I think Ray did a great job with the team last year. I am sorry to see him go. I find it weird that someone would move all the way to Moncton on a one year contract. I also find it poor planning to have the contract start August 1st. That really puts the adminisration behind the 8 ball so to speak in ramping up their season ticket sales in August with training camp just around the corner.

The promotion and planning for 08-09 season tickets is probably done from March to June...I don't think they start putting ads together in August.
