the only thing I found was this from the Q site:
Transactions 3 - périodes juin 2007 - Séance de sélection du 1er au 27 août 2007 à midi du 17 décembre 2007 au 8 janvier 2008 à midi
obviously dating from last year

I think most teams will wait until they see their players in action (Friday and Saturday)

Seems silly to have the trade window close so soon ... teams can basically only see their players for the weekend. I think teams should be able to make a trade up to the beginning of the regular season (or maybe the end of the pre-season schedule), that way rosters can be finalized and teams can trade to address a need on their team, or to trade off surplus players who don't fit in their plans but still belong in the league.

but the trade window has always closed before the season, forcing teams to make decisions, or lose players for nothing...

The trade deadline is there for the same reason as the CEGEP cutoff date...kids need to be registered in school in Quebec by a certain date.

The quick trading window really shouldn't be that big a deal. 20 year olds can be traded anytime once the season starts until the end of the Xmas trading period ( thats the way it has been for a while now unless it has changed-if it has .... my bad). 19 year olds who are on the bubble.... well management should have already had these guys identified and looking for opportunities to trade these guy(s) ahead of time. 17 and 18 year olds can be sent to tier 2 teams, with the idea of bringing them up later if needed.
Realistically, has there ever been a trade made during this training camp trading period that has been a blockbuster resulting in a team winning the league?? All you get now are fringe players/role players.

I know he didn't put up 100 points but he brought leadership to the team.

I wouldn't call that trade a blockbuster but when you consider it pretty much the only move Lewiston made that year, it was a major trade building towards a title.
