kings.nhl.com/team/app/?servi...ticleid=380555 Standard Three Year, Entry-Level Deals. 2008 2nd Round Pick (32nd) - D, Vyatcheslav Voinov Both are elligible for the AHL being that they're Euros but both are expected to go to their respective CHL clubs for the upcoming season, leaving their home country for the first time. Both have already verbally expressed their desire to play in North America. Voinov was selected 5th overall by the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL in the 08 CHL Import Draft

Even if he showed them he was skilled enough now for the AHL, they can still send him here to ease the NA, rink and culture transition. Junior players have a better family environment for a young player than living by himself in the AHL.

As I said before ... Voinov is probably just a one year player for us. Now I wonder if he'll come here to camp until the NHL camps open.

If he were to stick in the AHL I am quite sure he would be put up in a veterans home at least to start out But I do think he is likely to play in Moncton this year for you guys

if he does come to Moncton, and proves himself to be a to notch Euro, should the WC try to trade him ?

You bring a an interesting point, your right about Voinov being here for pretty much 1 year only.....since this will not be our go for it year, I wonder.....could he be moved at XMas for some more quality young player(s)?

if he does come to Moncton, and proves himself to be a to notch Euro, should the WC try to trade him ? I think we are getting ahead of ourselves a bit ... first he has to show up ... then he has to be an impact player in the Q to have significant trade value (lots of high end euros don't deliver as expected immediately) ... then the Cats have to feel that they are ready to throw in the towel on the season and trade a top player (vs. trying to make a mini-run in preparation for next year) ... and you have to be pretty sure he is in fact not going to be in the Q next year (how many people would have predicted Frolik would spend two years in the Q when he was AHL eligible?) ... overall, I would put his chances of being traded at less than 50% ...

I know I'm placing a lot of IF's but thats what I said if he shows up, then if he proves himself as an impact Euro. I don't think the WC can aspire to a championship this year even if he was, and if they do want to make a go for it next year adding some promising rookies or some future compensation would be of more value than keeping a player who might be here for one year. as for the fact that he might still be in the Q next year, that to could be worked out in the trade like Samson to VD for when Bourdon came back. once again... lots of IF's but it makes for good conversation.
