I was at the game yesterday and everybody is talking about Jordan Lane. I would be surprised not to see him make this team. He probably wouldn't be dressed every night but he still would be the talk around the wildcats when he is. Sure he's the fastest or the most skilled skater there, but he's a role player and he plays it well.
I can see him selling at least few hundred more tickets a night. Two of my buddies came to the game just because he was there and the people in front of me said the same thing.
I couldn't help overhearing other fans at the game also talking about throughout the game.
It makes for an easy subject of conversation around the team. The more people talk about him, the more people will go to the games.
I'm sure others teams can't wait to see their enforcers try him on in their town. Whenever Moncton will play in those town expect fans to come in bigger numbers.

Many people are missing the fact that he had 2 assists last night ... especially on the winner with a nice pass out from behind the net.
He isn't pretty ... but he also isn't as bad as everybody says. Spencer came to Moncton a few years back out of shape ... not a great skater ... but with hard work, conditioning and improved skating he became very effective.
Lane's fight last night was against a tough kid that is also big ... 6'3" and 230 is pretty close to Lane's size. Worden is a tough kid that may be the league heavyweight champion before he is done ... and Lane was not outclassed by him. I give the edge to Worden in the fight but Lane had his moments ... and couldn't get Worden's helmet off. He still landed a few solid shots early in the fight.
I've heard many comment on his balance ... but actully I was impressed how well he stayed up with Worden torquing on him. Lane won't fight many 230 lb guys and will find it much easier. He may have taken on the top guy in the league in his first fight ... or at least one of the top guys.

I agree Lane will cause a BUZZ around the rink when he's playing. The 2 weeks of power skating that he'll get will help him a lot.

He can take a punch and will be a great enforcer in this league (he's only 17). But I still think Lane was the winner in this one. He landed a good five punches before Worden could get any control. I didn't see worden connecting any real good ones on Lane either. On top of that Lane played a shift before the fight started and Worden just came off from the bench. Good Idea by Bathurst though(waiting that Lane is tired before putting out Worden).

Many people are missing the fact that he had 2 assists last night ... especially on the winner with a nice pass out from behind the net. He was also on the ice for 3 goals against. He is a liability out there, imagine getting caught with him on the ice against oponents top lines. When Lane was on the ice most of the play was in the Wildcats end. If Flynn is going to play him, he better drop the gloves in the first few seconds of his shift or the puck will end up in the net.

Flynn wasn't matching any lines last night ... just rolling them out there to sink or swim. Lane found himself out there against the Bernier line several times, which was the best line on the ice for both teams. When the regular season starts, Lane won't be matching up against top lines ... thats the Coach's job to make sure it doesn't happen. He also won't get PP and PK time and he got both last night. Demitruk was also -1 on the night ... should we cut him ?

I wonder if Flynn will dress Lane again tonight?
Marshall Worden will be in the lineup for the Titan...

I think you'll see Cats dress some veterans tonight. I'll say 4-5 vets in lineup tonight.

Then when Flynn does play him, it will be against guys that he can't compete with as he can't compete with rookies now...imagine how he will play against veterans. Demitruk wasn't on the ice for 3 goals against and there is quite a difference in skill level.

On the road, you can make sure that Barberio and whoever else is on your top pair are out there with him. I don't think you'll see him out there the last 5 minutes of 1 goal games anyways.

You can be sure that when Lane is on the ice in the future, we'll also have a few veterans with him on D and on forward. It's not hard to get your 4th line icetime on the road ... but you have to pick your spots ... usually after the home team's top line has just been out there. Home Coach will also be trying to get his 4th line icetime and he'll just look for that matchup. Lane still needs work ... conditioning and coaching ... and apparently they will work on his skating. He is a lot like Spencer was ... needed work on his skating and conditioning ... and then became a very effective support player. Its also ok for a team to get scored on ... let the kids learn from mistakes. They'll learn a lot more from a bad shift than they will from a good one.
