I heard this at the rink the other night. I personally would be glad to see him back, although I know there are some who won't be happy.

It's been unofficially official for the last few days now. Fans should be happy....employees not so much.

I agree I'll be happy if he comes back but I know a lot of people that won't be.

Published Tuesday August 12th, 2008 timestranscript.canadaeast.com/article/381659The rumours continue to swirl that Bill Schurman will be returning to the club as general manager. Schurman was the Wildcats general manager for five seasons, the longest anyone has held the job in team history. He resigned last summer and returned to his hometown of Summerside to take over as general manager of the city's new sports complex. "I've talked to Bill," said Irving. "He'll be considered among the candidates along with the other people who put their applications forward." The Wildcats new general manager won't have much time to prepare for training camp and the regular season. Schurman already knows the Wildcats organization and the local market which could make for a smoother transition on the business side. "Put it this way," said Irving. "We know Bill. We know his capabilities. Knowing him and knowing his strengths and weaknesses, that allows us to compare him to other candidates and that would be an edge for Bill from that perspective. We want to get somebody from the Maritimes if we could."

So what's the deal with him. Bad GM?? What negative traits does he have where people wouldn't want him back as GM?

Yes, apparently he does a good job from the boss' perspective, and from the fans' point of view as well (I do recall there being one guy who Schurman took to task for behaviour at the games who swore he was done with the team and not setting foot in the building again so long as Schurman was around), but rumblings are that his underlings find him to be a tough boss.

You are not going to plase everybody, I think there are a ton more who like Schurman there than ones who don't. Bosses are like coaches, not everybody will like them because some people need to be whipped and motivated at times.

Great news. He is an excellent GM and runs a tight ship. People that have a problem with him are usually ones that don't pull their own weight. Work hard and follow the plan for the team and they will have no problem, in fact, they will have some fun. This is a business, and Irving wants the best. Would you trust a near ruthless, billionairre businessman or some envelope licker that doesn't want to work as part of the business team and doesn't pull their weight. Most people cry and moan when they are pushed...while the successful people in life...EXCEL and reach their potential. Those on the hockey side are quite happy to have him back.
