would riopel be on the move at x-mas time? quebec is need of a goalie and so is rimouski , but one thing is he does not have much playoff experience .with Vye being close and LBD being here and 16 so promising for the futur or you hope he does not sign any were has a 20 year old and comes back next season

The good thing about Riopel, QMJHL wise is that there's a 99.99999% chance he'll be back next year. Unless something unforeseen happens he'll definitely be back next year which adds a lot of value IMO. If the Cats wanna make a run at it next year he could be very valuable in nets as oppose to having Vye who has next to no Q experience and LBD whose only going to be 17.

Riopel will not be traded. His value is way to high.
It would have to be an incredible offer that no team would come up with. The least Moncton would trade him for would something like 6 first round picks + players or other picks.
If he was garanteed not to be here next year he could still get 3 first round picks + players or other picks.
Even at that, I still don't see Moncton trading him. Remember that Moncton is already well set up in terms of picks and Riopel should be here next year during a year that most agree is a contending year.
If Moncton trades Riopel at Christmas, Moncton would still have to go out to get another goaltender for the following year. It just doesn't make sense.
On the other hand, by keeping Riopel here. Moncton can have a big run at it this year and again next year (and who knows after that).

The only way I'd trade him is if he was 1-signed by an NHL team and 2-the Cats were below .500...AND 3-the return would have to be very good. I think also you'd have to bring in a veteran to carry some of the load like a Gelinas or someone else with some experience and a low cost(6th to 8th pick).
The main reason for this is that next year this team could be a top 5 team without any moves if some guys keep improving, it would be dumb to have traded one of the top goalies away. Right now the WC have a wealth of kids and picks, they need for those kids be part of a winning club(at least .500) and learn what it takes to win.
