Nikolai Khabibulin has been placed on waivers and TSN is reporting that rumours are circulating about an imminent trade ... this would free up a roster spot in Chicago for Crawford to serve as Huet's backup (and maybe even get an extended run as #1 when Huet goes down with his inevitable annual injury) ... would be nice to see a former Cats great land in the big league full-time, I don't think he has much left to prove in the AHL.

I figure this is his big break.
The signing of Huet pretty much spelled the end of the Bulin wall in Chicago.

I think the plan from the beginning was to move Khabibulin and for Crawford to be #2, they just didn't have the bites they thought they would, at worse they may have to eat half his salary via re-entry waivers.

I thought I read Niemi will be the backup to Huet Crawford has already been told that once they get rid of Khabibulin he would be the back up. This was before today.

I know you put a maybe with Columbus but still....... why Columbus?? They have Leclaire and Norrena ( still with Columbus I think with Norrena) along with Steve Mason in the minors. The other teams I do agree with except for Ottawa -think that would give them cap problems otherwise if its not a problem.

For some reason I got Leclaire and Denis confused and was thinking they had no clear cut #1. point is, for half the salary I think there would be a few takers for Khabibulin. Ottawa if they had half a brain they'd dump Gerber for Khabibulin(in separate trades obviously).

He just wishes Leclaire would have signed to be a third string goalie with the Habs.
