Anyone take note of what the pink jersey's sold for? Before the start of the game, the Gormley jersey had the highest bid at $500. I am sure that they would have gotten higher bids if they auctioned off their normal game worn jerseys. I checked at the 2nd intermission. Most jerseys I noticed (lots of traffic) were in the 300-400 range. Gormley was at $800 as someone outbid Irving who had put the $500 bid.

I am sure that they would have gotten higher bids if they auctioned off their normal game worn jerseys. Gormley's jersey went for a cool $1000! You can probably guess who won the bid. (Mr. Irving) That was the highest paid for any jersey. Others were MacAusland went for approx. $750 if I do remember correctly. Even Bidukes jersey was at $250 the last time I looked. Bissonnette went for $560 (This I know as I bought it!) ;D Hopefully to go along with his puck as it was his first goal on Friday! A side note: I'd like to thank you guys for your insight on the players and the team since the beginning of the season. I have been a new Wilcats fans and had my first experience at the Colisee for Pink in the Rink this past weekend! I thought it was a great atmosphere!! And O my it is soo much better than watching that steaming video!

I think by Irving puting in the 500$ for gormley it gets people going. Some of the jersey's went above therefore making more money for the cause. I think Irving putting a 1000$ leads other businessmen to buy a Jersey.
Its a donation I believe they can claim it??? So technically your paying half of what your price is?? Am I wrong?

It is not considered a donation, therefore you cannot claim it. Since they are giving money for some goods (jerseys) in return it's considered a sale of merchandise.

When I bought one last time, I didn't get a tax receipt, nor did I expect any.

The Wildcats are donating the money to charity ... so they will get the deduction ... however they'll also have to claim the cash they receive in the sale of the jerseys as a revenue. The purchasers cannot also claim a deduction as that would mean two different "tax payers" are making a claim for the same item.
It is not a donation on the part of the purchaser ... they purchased an item and have that item to show for it.
