Gatineau picked up Prokop and Ryan at Christmas. So yeah, they made some key trades. Those were minor "tinkering" moves. That's all I see the Cats doing. Maybe moving Leahy and adding a skill d-man. Do you think the Cats can win the Q with a top 6 forward group of Eagles Stephens Brannon Lessard Cameron Famin (Sill) ? The D core I can let go because your team defense helps cover up any inexperience/inability, although its not a great top 4. You guys are playing great as a team and will always be a tough opponent... but I still think that in order to potentially win the league, you'll need a couple big additions.

The only thing about making moves is that sometimes you mess with chemistry and put more pressure on your team than is needed. I'm sure if they can add another skilled 20 year old d-man for a 2nd or 3rd, that would be a positive move, unless Leahy really steps up and becomes a key player. Once roski is healthy you can put him in for Leahy and you don't lose much. Of couse that depends on how Dimitruk and Jodoin look by midseason. If you want to win you don't wimp out using the chemistry excuse. You get the players you need and you manage the team. That's what Flynn is for. I bet team chemistry had a lot to do with Joe Maddon and Tampa Bay Rays not making any moves at the trade deadline.

I'm not saying we are outright the favorite to win the Q but how can you not take us more seriously after this past weekend, I can understand if we won by a goal or two but there was definatly a message sent with both wins. Is personelle more important on paper for you to make your judgment or are results???

The forwards are not that great and neither is the defense yet they have a GAA under 1.5 and GF over 4.00. We are 1/4 of the way in the season and they still have not lost in regulation, must be doing something right. Did you honestly think Lewy had the team to beat at this time 2 years ago...and Gatineau last year?

Like I said, not trying to take anything away from the great start, but I think come playoff time, if you stick with what you have, you won't win the league. You guys said Famin has really dropped off already, Brannon should be a third liner... Ill have to watch Ted Stephens closer next time to see how much he's improved. Randy Cameron is racking up the assists but not at all physical if you go by his "2" hits all season, not sure he'll keep up this pace. I will stick by my feeling that your roster just will not be enough to win the league. You can disagree. We'll see how it plays out, but I do think you guys are overachieving right now and I dont expect the Brannon,Cameron,Famin crew in particular to keep producing at this pace and into playoffs. I think you'll need a high end talent as an upgrade to go deep in playoffs.

Where have I been saying we did it right? The BIGGEST reason that roster lost last year was coaching. In fact, Moncton are proving this season how much an impact coaching has. Eagles vs Voracek Stephens vs Marchand Brannon vs Hillier Lessard vs Corsi Cameron vs MacMillan Famin vs Swan And still with White, Pridham and Knotek floating around... you guys are undefeated in 15? and have had some big wins over some of your biggest competition. We never had a big run like that, despite a sick amount of talent. You guys put Cam Russell behind your bench now, and you wouldnt be having anywhere near this success. Give us Flynn last year and you'd see a different team. Flynn has the team playing well as a team, but in the league semi's, you probably run into other good coaches, who have more high end talent to play with.

What does Cameron's "hits" have to do with anything? He's there to play a strong 2 way game, feed his wingers and help on PK. Brannon will probably slow down since he gets virtually no PP time, but he's more confident offensively, him and Sill are a formidable duo and no fun for any top line to play against. Brown/Lessard/MacAusland have played on the other wing. I think a guy like Famin will contribute more as the season goes on as he learns the league/language/systems. He has a laser wrist shot and good 1 on 1 moves. Brown is another guy that hasn't done much apart from the big game in Halifax. Stephens, it's hard to say, he's really breaking out this season and getting quality ice time. Lewiston showed that you don't need a bunch of starts if everybody chips in and you play strong defense. I don't pretend to have all the answers, it's just funny seeing everybody saying the Cats WON'T win it all. Everybody said the same about Lewy 2 years ago so it can be done.

Two other huge differences are goaltending and a mobile puck moving defense. Guys like Jodoin and Dimitruk are not piling up points but they move the puck very well, that's one thing you lacked on defense, a lot of big lumbering guys.

Brannon and Lessard are 3rd line... and MacAusland and Brown are also "depth" guys.... who is your top 2 lines?

Would it not have made more sense to bring up the fact that Famin "dropped off" before he "picked up" again? And actually... you are saying Halifax didn't do it right right now because they in fact didn't do it right. Before that, you were defending them tooth and nail, if I recall. Although you do raise some valid points in this thread, I think if this was the Moose making this run, you would be a little less skeptical.

Although you do raise some valid points in this thread, I think if this was the Moose making this run, you would be a little less skeptical. Re: Famin, he likely wasnt going to continue at a 1 assist/9 games pace. Eventually he'd have another couple good games. But his dropoff was being discussed on these boards by you guys too. I didnt make it up. Will he find his touch again over the next 10 games? Or will he chip in sporadically? Regarding defending them tooth and nail...our problem wasnt that the roster was too talented (with good coaching anyway). How can you argue that having a weaker roster is better than a strong one? I dont think for a second teams will look at Halifax (and RN and BC for that matter) and go "look at those teams with all that talent... they failed... lets go with a lesser talented team, seems like a better way to go" Maybe I dont understand what you mean by me defending them... defending the Marchand deal maybe? You take a chance and put together the team you feel can win it all (that you can afford), 15 teams fail at it each year. As for being skeptical.... this thread involved people talking about whether or not Moncton are a championship contender... a bunch of Moncton fans weighed in, most were fairly cautious about thinking this team can do it... most want to wait etc (i.e. DOUBT). I weighed in saying I didnt think they could without some key additions, and now Billy + Co are all worked up that I dont think they will win the league with the roster they have.... even though none of them really committed to saying they think they WILL win with this team. Basically, even with the great start, Moncton fans are still a bit weary of predicting this team can win it all. So why is everyone upset that I look at your roster (the experience, the elite talent amount) and feel that right now Id say that wont be enough come April to win the league? Is there no Moncton fan who will say they agree with me that some big additions (in particular up front) will probably be needed? Does every Moncton fan think this is a championship calibre roster as is?

I think if Moncton wants to contend, they need 1 top 6 forward for sure, maybe a 2nd & 1 D. Just my opinion.
