Went to the game last night and the announced crowd was just above 3700, very disappointing. We have a team that is off to a great start in a city of about 125,000 and all we can get to a record breaking game is 3700, whats up with that. You hear the same excuse over and over again, the people of Moncton don't show up till after Christmas. Well the team is playing great now, so get off your butts Moncton and start showing up.

They have been getting pretty good crowds up until the past 2 games, both of which were weekday games i beleive. Last night was the night before halloween, so lots of people were probably preparing for that. The game before that was against Chicoutimi, who are not considered a big rival.

The thing is, as oppose to past years, the crowd is really into it. I mean, did you hear that last night? Not very often the crowd is that loud for a Thursday night game in the month of October. I rather have that then 7000 and a lame crowd.

I agree with you Pens. There has been more crowds like that lately. I also noticed with the Go Cats Go chant that was going they actually didn't use the canned version once or twice. It actually kept the crowd going as opposed to them just letting the PM do it.

How much preparing do people have to do for halloween? what a lame excuse It is... but historically speaking, 3700 for a Wildcats game on an October weeknight is actually above average. There have been countless games in past years in October/November where they'd announce between 3100 and 3500... some of those against rival teams. It's always been like this in Moncton except for the Memorial Cup year... 4000 average before the holidays, 5000+ average after that.

It's more convenient for a lot of people to go to a game on the weekend. How about coming up with your own opinion instead of crapping on other peoples opinions.

Your board police won't like it I somehow doubt Halloween shopping really effects any crowd for a hockey game.. if the game was being held on halloween itself I'd agree with you

As was mentionned previously, the crowd last night was about 500 more than the average October weeknight crowd. Moncton does not traditionally have huge spikes up or down regardless of how the team is doing. Even in years they missed the playoffs the average was arount the same, around 4,000. Attendance is usually higher after Christmas also.

This is dumb... whats wrong with 3700 at a game??? Just because the place can fit 6k+ doesnt mean it will... The place sounded like there was 8000 in there thursday night for a change..

And what is really wrong with having an average of over 3000 a game during the regular season during a year where we were not supposed to be going for it? There are plenty of teams that would kill to have their attendance as high as ours. Look at the averages around the league. Personally, for the population base we have to work with, I think that our attendance is above average. Look at Quebec, Halifax and Montreal (ok so they're new to the area). They should be packing them in. Are they? NO. The Cats do everything they can do make the organization more community involved which looks to have paid off to some degree.

good article in the Acadie Nouvelle today about some in Moncton thinking about a 20 000 seat arena. it would be the 2nd largest arena in Canada.
